Strength:

Not TOO Big, Not TOO small, Formats, HDTV

Weakness:

Needed a lot of tweaking, requires a short stand

(TW-46807)
I researched long and hard before finally deciding on the Mitsu. The picture on DVD is incredible, digital cable is so/so depending on the channel (CBS' HD shows are incredible). The only thing I do not like is I had to tweak the convergence for a week before it was right, and I cant get the blue to focus very good, any ideas? Does anyone have a very thin green line on the top when the Expand format is chosen?
Overall, a great TV, with a phemoninal picture.

Strength:

Lots of inputs.

Weakness:

Confusing menu

This is the model 46807!
Just got it today, so far everything seems fine!
But i can't get it to program any cable channels past chan-14... Video looks good so far, but does not compare, to my 32" Loewe, but i kinda knew that!

Cable looks good, DSS even looks better, and DVD looks the best! I just have to get used to a RPTV, i really loved my Loewe 32".

Anyone know why i cant tune cable channels past chan -14???

Strength:

Numerous inputs, 16:9 aspect ratio, HDTV upgradeable, SUPER clear picture, new GREY side bars intstead of the black ones (too decrease the "burn in" of the picture) progressive scan, v-chip technology (for when the kids arrive), can expand a 4:3 image to fill screen and on and on. Email me if you want to know more!

Weakness:

Honestly haven't found one yet.

Very impressed. The wife even loves it. Great improvements over last years line which had problems with black side bars burning image into screen. New grey side bars are actually an image rather than just black (nothingness-is that a word?), thus when in 4:3 aspect the entire screen is filled with an image rather than just the middle. Overtime if just viewed in 4:3 you will receive a burned in affect but the new grey will greatly reduce the burn in time. I suggest stretching the image anyway, though it takes a few days to get used to. For three thousand bucks a great TV with super features and upgradeability to boot! Wait until you watch your fist DVD movie...your friends won't want to go home!

Strength:

great picture, large screen in compact enclosure, tons of inputs, and HDTV ready

Weakness:

could use additional modes for watching 4:3 sources

I was intent on the TW40x81 but was put off in not finding one locally to preview and mailorder would take too long. Found the Mitsubishi at a local dealer. The picture was great, perhaps due to the TV being fine-tuned unlike other TV's I saw at Best Buy and Circuit City. I liked the extra 6 inches on this set, plus the fact that it's a "table top". I'm going to be building it into the wall. The line doubler is quite good to my inexperienced eyes. The only thing I wish for is for it to have additional modes for 4:3 viewing. All it has is "standard" with gray bars on the sides, "expand" for anamorphic, and "zoom" which cuts off the top bottom. All in all a great TV with a great picture out of the box. Plus the 1 year 0% financing can't be beat.

Strength:

Brilliant picture, great HDTV for the money

Weakness:

Red push, needs tweaking to get full potential of the set.

I've had my set for about a month now. Out of the box, contrast and brightness were set to torch mode and had to be turned down. After a week or so I adjusted convergence, gamma, turned SVM off, and built a red-push attenuator. A week later I went through an electrostatic focus and Avia calibration, and I can say I'm now very happy with the picture.

I use the set for 15-20% DVD's (480i) and the rest DBS via DirecTV. Though the Mitsubishi line-doubler has a bad reputation (see www.hometheaterspot.com), I'm very happy with the picture the satelite and from a non-progressive DVD. The picture is sharp and the colors vibrant. I can't wait to get a HD receiver so I can watch some high-definition TV!

If you decide to get one of sets, its very important to wait for break in (about 100 hours) and then go through a calibration. The picture really does improve over the first couple of weeks. If you can afford it, wait a couple of months and get a professional ISF calibration.

The FIRST thing you need to do is turn contract down to about 1/3, and brightness to less than half. Any additional calibration you do depends on your sense of adventure and/or technical expertise.

The set is also very succeptible to poor source signals. If you have lousy cable service (as we do in Seattle), you'll have a lousy picture. The larger the screen size, the more apparent that will be. The 46807 is a nice size because even an non-HD signal from satellite looks good on it.

Read, study, and JOIN www.hometheaterspot.com. The site is a veritible fountain of tweaking information for Mitsubishi TV's. This isn't a plug-it-in and forget television!

None so far

I really love this TV! I was a little hesitant to spend 3k on a TV but there's absolutely guilt now! Adjusting the set to get it to the perfect viewing setting was a bit tedious but well worth it. I also purchased a Toshiba DVD 9100 to replace my old Panasonic and the Progressive scan kicks butt! I can honestly say, once you get the colors and brightness/contrast setup correctly even Cable looks great! I can't find any flaws with the Television at this point. I would recommend it to anyone!

I've had the Mits 46807 for about 3 months!
So far the Tv has worked like a charm.

If you like DVD this Tv is for you, i use a pioneer DV-37 and the picture, will blow you away, also dish network, and the HBO & SCI-FI channle, look super, cable is good to fair.

Anyone in the Tampa FL area, looking to buy the Mits 46807, i have one for sale. Comes with a 5 year service plan, pickup only. Makle me a fair offer.
