PIP, Not HD Ready I spent a couple of months looking at RPTVs from 43 to 53 inch and was considering buying the Toshiba TN50X81 which is HD Ready but not really considering it is not 16X9 aspec. This TV is not progressive scan but the picture quality is exellent. A better bet is the 510 if u can afford as the other poster has said but by the tim HD rolls around I figure I will look into it then. I have watched only a few movies so far. |

Strength:
Best Picture for a non Hd-tv and a great Looking TV that makes you want to show it off.
Weakness:
No HDTV When I was buying my tv I was looking into getting HDTV but at the time there was a limited amount of programs broadcasted in HD and to date there is still not that much out there for HD so this tv is the best for watching DVD's or Sat. It would be nice for if it was digital but it is 16x10.4 so it is closer to a hd then any other rptv. To say the least this is going to be the best rptv around untill HD comes totally into play. |

Not HDTV compatible Excellent TV for the price. Good compromise between widescreen and normal screen TV. New Elite Pro 510HD a better bet if you can afford it. Similar Products Used: Pioneer Elite Pro-510HD |

Strength:
Excellent picture quality, well built, very good looking.
Weakness:
Not HDTV compatible, costly. I spent approximately 6 months shopping for a RPTV before purchasing this one and in the process looked at many different brands and models of TV's. I looked at Hitachi Super Ultravision, Proscan, Mitsubishi, Toshiba Cinema Series, Sony XBR, Marantz, and a few other brands. But the Pioneer Elite PRO-100 came out on top in every case. I considered purchasing an HDTV-ready set but with the exception of a few ultra-high-dollar sets, the HDTV-ready sets I looked at could not touch the Pioneer's NTSC picture, even with their progressive scan capabilities. The bottom line is that you will not find an NTSC RPTV with a better quality picture than the Pioneer Elite PRO-100. Similar Products Used: None, this is my first RPTV. |

If your looking at high-end television, check out Pioneers "Elite" series. After watching the Pro-100, 51" Pioneer in the store, I bought one on the spot. My search was over. The set is bright, clear and can be watched in almost any lighting condition. I have it hooked to my DVL-919 Pioneer DVD/LD/CD and a Yamaha RX-V995 A/V receiver. I have B&W DM7's as surrounds and a B&W CDM-CSE center channel. Also, (2) Paradigm PDR-10 subs take care of the low end. If you have something as good as the Elite thats not an Elite you overpaid IMHO. My friend who helped with the full in wall installation (20+ hours of solid work) was stunned when we finally got done. A true winner in my book. |
