Strength:
Great value for the money overall.
Weakness:
None significant. The screen does reflect a lot which is distracting in some viewing positions. Have not checked how it is with other comparable products. I purchased this set purely based on the reviews in this forum. I am extremely pleased with the purchase. The build quality is excellent. Very good clarity/colors with DVD. The picture quality is also really good on all channels via DishNetwork. Also 58" seems like an optimal size for a nice feeling of watching a big screen if your viewing distance is 12-15 feet. I paid $2845+$325 S&H. It has since dropped to $2785+ $350 S&H (I had bargained to bring down the S&H by $25). Similar Products Used: None. |

Strength:
Great picture and sound right out of the box
Weakness:
Locks to "full" on all progressive scan signals Ive the 582 for about 2 months now and am very pleased with the picture quality, sound and variety of connections. Line of site issues have me waiting for cable HDTV but DVDs with my RP-62 look just outstanding...value for price is off the board on this RPTV. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
Easy menu system, beautiful cabinet, easily viewed in well lit rooms, and plain ol'''' cable looks just as good as any direct view TV---really.
Weakness:
None yet. We''''ve had this TV for about a month now. I really have to say that after months of searching and comparing I am so happy that we went with this Pioneer. This set had a great picture right out of the (huge!) box. With a little tweaking I''''m sure it will be perfect. Similar Products Used: Toshiba, Magnavox, Sony |

Strength:
picture, inputs, design, good convergence adjustment, progressive scan good sound for a tv.
Weakness:
the screen reflects too much light so its almost impossible to see the picture in a bright room or with direct lights. This is a great tv the picture is very clear and it has plenty of inputs. we got this tv because it had the best picture of any tv at the store it was the last one they had so it was the floor model. |

Value, Operational Characteristics
Weakness:
NTSC Performance In my quest, I did not find the perfect HD Ready RPTV. Each had it's own advantages/disadvantages. The Toshibas have on one color setting of all inputs, the Pioneer Locks-In-Full mode on non-anamorphic DVDs, the Elites are too pricey, the Toshibas have a slow channel changes. IMO the Pioneer SD582 offers the best combination of performance and features at the best value. Review these issues yourself before making a decision. N/A I am quite happy with the picture on this HD monitor. Cable is a little fuzzy(no suprise there) the digital cable is better (which is good if you can get that or DSS) but the DVD quality is exceptional! ! I compared this side by side with the Mits. and Sony (the sony was TERRIBLE)and this set was defenitely the best.. The only one that looked better was the elite.. and it's a minor difference (besides I didn't like that Wood finish on the elite... all in all this is an excellent choice for anyone looking to buy a HD monitor.. The 53 is a little to small the 64 just a bit big... This size 58' is perfect for 12-15 feet back... I purchased this model for @4200 don't bother with the big chains find a smaller shop that's willing to deal! ! ! Similar Products Used: Sony/Toshiba/Mitsubishi/Pioneer Elite |

Strength:
Great picture, even on cable broadcasts.
Weakness:
None Great HDTV-Ready TV. It even makes cable look better. I finally paired it with a progressive scan DVD player and it blew me away. The prices keep dropping. I think it is a great TV. Similar Products Used: Hitachi, Mitsubishi |
