Features, price, picture, speakers when just watching TV

remote control, size (this is a large television, and has a very tall case, taller than Toshiba's or Hitachi's, so keep in mind the size of this thing.)

After 5 months of looking for a solid widescreen projection monitor that wouldn't break the bank, I decided on the Samsung HCM553W. Apparently, this is the followup to the HCM5525W which is also a good set but provides 2 speakers versus 3 on this model, less features, as well as lesser ranked tube, etc. I compared numerous brands from the big companies, Mitsu, Panasonic, Toshiba, Hitachi, JVC, PHilips, and Samsung. Ultimately, it came down to two models for me. The 55" widescreen from JVC (recently came out, can't remember model number) and the Samsung. I searched numerous places for the Samsung, and the prices ranged anywhere from $1850 to $2400. I ended up purchasing from Pac-2000 in Seattle, an internet only store. I have a mid sized living room, so I wanted a television that would be the focus of the room, and this definitely is. I must say that I am extremely pleased at the picture, sound, build, features, options, and overall "feel" of this TV. For the price that I paid, I don't feel that I could have gotten a better product. I don't think that it could match up against a Hitachi set, but I feel comfortable in matching it up against a Toshiba 57h80 or a comparable Mitsubishi. I made many trips to Circuit City's and Best Buy's to look at and compare pictures on these sets, and I can honestly say that the Samsung matches up with the top tier of sets. I highly recommend it.
