Strength:
Clear picture, Leight Weight, picture as good as any Direct View television.
Weakness:
A very small pinched of the vertical lines when using component video inputs. (If you do not have a trained eye you will never see it) I initially wanted to get the Sony Wega XBR400 but the weight and the fact the it is a 4:3 set as well. I was aware that you could zoom the picture to accomodate a 16:9 but without it being a actually widescreen television you loose the visual depth. I went to the Wiz and they had the new Proscan widescreen 38" 38800 they as well were tooo heavy and the worst thing they were recalled. It left me with the choice of the Samsung or the Sony. Well the Samsung beat the Sony hands down. I live in a 2 story Condo with sky lights and 2 padio doors, so the living room is well light. I was skeptical, because I bought a projection screen before (about 2 months ago)and had to return it because the picture would get completely washed out by the lights. Not a problem with this set. I was surprised to find that this set seems more like a Direct-View set than a projection screen. The screen can actually be seen from any angle and my DVD movies (I have over 150 of hose) look absolutely astounding. I will soon invest in DSS and I believe that the picture will be just as good as DVD's on this set. Besides the weaknesses as entered above the set is a beautiful television worthy of my hard earned dollars. Unless you are particular about buying a Widescreen televiosion I can not see how you can be dissappointed with this set. All televisions require tinkering in order to be presentable in any given environment. This set needs no more tinkering than any other set. Similar Products Used: Proscan 37610 |
