Beautiful Picture! Just like in the store(Best Buy)
Weakness:
Kids have trouble with remote-buttons are a little too sensitive for them. What a picture for the price! I'm spending entirely too much time with it-watching DVD's has taken my viewing to an entirely new level. The Family loves it too! (I'm no expert, but I know what I like, and this combo is just what my eyes and wallet needed. (actual price w/shipping was 1686.00 and 164.00 for the DVD player(free shipping)-also ordered on Thursday and received it on Tuesday-Not bad!) bigtime bang for the buck !!
Weakness:
no center channel location. Flimsy plastic cabinet. This is my first rptv. I shopped long and hard trying to figure out what would suit my small room, 12x20. After reading all the reviews that I could get my hands on I went with this set. Boy did i ever make the right choice !! Similar Products Used: none. |

Just got this tv a week ago. I had very good first impression.
Weakness:
The universal remote just supports the vcr and cable box. It doesn't support DVD and other devices. Picture is good. Sound is good. |

Amazing picture quality, tons of options, absolutely incredible!
Weakness:
no speaker-level input for using tv speakers as center channel option Well, while I have always been a fan of having the best audio equipment, I never put much stock in video equipment... Until I went looking at tv's a week ago. The Toshiba had the crispest image, the blackest black, the most accurate color palette, and was just far ahead of every other tv in the store. Once I saw it, I knew that I had to have the best! Deciding between last years model (40H80) and the 42H81 (for $200) difference was a difficult task until I was assured that all of the quality and workmanship issues that were so common with the 40H80 had been taken care of in the new series. So I bought it site unseen as the only display they had was the 40H80. Not a whole lot of difference between the 2 other than 2" of screen size and it looks a LOT better (visually appealing shape, i mean.. much more clean looking). I hooked it up to my current system (all Onkyo components w/ Infinity mains and Bose surrounds), and was floored! Watched the Matrix and The Rock that night on dvd, and was more impressed with every new scene! The picture is so clear that you can tell the difference in the recording quality of different dvd's. You can see imperfections in people's faces (which is so real it's almost annoying) like i have never seen before! Even with analog cable, the picture quality is untouchable, for cable, that is! It is about the perfect size for my 13' X 20' living room, takes up FAR less floor space than my previous RCA 45" projection which was more of a piece of furniture than a tv. Dig images I have had this unit for about a month and after many adjustments, it finally looks better than it did out of the box. However, my main complaint is the quality of digital images. At first I noticed pixilization and jitters from my DV-09 Pioneer Elite interlaced DVD player. I was told that since the 42H81 is progressive scan compatible that a progressive scan DVD would make a huge difference. Well, I purchased a Toshiba SP-9200 and it made a difference but only when the progreesive player is in interlaced mode?!?! I know all cables are properly connected and I am a bit disappointed. The quality of DVD's on the 42H81 deffinatley look good. But not outstanding. If anyone else has run in to this problem and has eliminated it, please email me. I would greatly appreciate it.
