Strength:

Great Picture, Styling, Menus, Perfect Size for Medium-Large Size Room

Weakness:

Picture is so good that it brings out how crappy my cable reception is on some channels.

I am extremely happy with my purchase of this TV. It is packed with features including HD which is next to impossible to find at this price point. I would recommend this TV to anyone who is interested in a large screen TV and HD. The resolution is great from all viewing angles.
The TV looks like a flat panel display from the front as it is has a very thin profile at top. Value for dollar this TV is hard to beat.

Strength:

Big but not too big! Toshiba makes a good line doubler

Weakness:

Can't seem to converge the bottom right corner

Its a good TV but I wish I had gone with a 16:9. The price point was probably not justified. The on thing that truly irks me about this TV is my inability to converge the botoom right corner. The convergeance lines in that corner bend so it is literally impossible to fully converge the TV. There should be better 16:9 offerings in the coming months.

Strength:

Outstanding picture on DVDs. Decent picture on cable TV. Lightweight and small - good for a small apartment or living room.

Weakness:

Very little space on top of the set (everyone says this though), but that's pretty much it.

Overall this I am extremely pleased with this purchase. I purchased the 43HX70, which is a little different than the 43H70 but didn't fit the other catagories on this website. After calibrating this set with my Avia DVD, I was totally impressed with the picture that I got. DVDs are vividly clear, and the color balance is excellent as well. Even cable TV looks pretty good. I only comment on that because some people have complained that their cable looks really bad. I actually get a better picture on this set than my Zenith TV/VCR combo.

Another thing this set has going for it is the left to right viewing angle. Didn't someone complain that this set had a bad one? The picture seems almost as good side to side as it does from directly in front of it, so it won't inhibit a large audience from being able to watch it at once. You should definitely get some kind of a stand for this TV since it does get noticably darker if your eye level is well above the top of the TV. Below the TV seems fine to me.

If you don't watch DVDs all the time, I'd say you should get this set over a 16:9 on the pure fact that it won't distort your non-widescreen sources of entertainment. Looking at some of the 16:9 sets in the sets, I decided it would probably drive me nuts if I was trying to watch baseball on it. If you're considering the 40H80, know that the width of that set and this one is the same - so your DVD picture is going to be the same size.

One last strength. This set performs equally well in a decently lit room as it does in the dark (with a few very minor adjustments to the picture settings). I was surprised at how little glare that I got from this set with the room totally lit.

Overall, I give the 43HX70 4 stars for value, because I think that anything that costs this much should also be able to clean the house and make my dinner. 5 stars for the overall rating because of its awesome visual performance.
