Screen reflects light I Decided to purchase the Toshiba 50H71 after looking at various other HDTV products from RCA, Sony and Mitsubishi in the 47 to 53 inch size range. I''m convinced this TV provides the best features and picture quality for its price range. However, upon delivery the default configuration settings were nothing to be excited about. There were noticable geometry problems and I had to spend some time making convergence adjustments using the 64 point grid in service mode. Also the contrast and briteness settings needed to be lowered quite a bit. Once these settings were to my satisfaction, I noticed major improvement in the picture quality from my digital sattelite source and the picture was flawless from corner to corner. One thing to look out for is to make sure that you position the TV to keep most of the light sources or glare from windows behind the set. The protective layer of the screen reflects light and will be a distraction in the day time. After having this set for 6 months I am still amazed at the picture quality. I have yet to see this set using a HDTV source and I can''t wait. Great buy!! |
