Strength:

The picture and "WOW" surround mode is great and of course price.

Weakness:

Looks, they could improve the looks just a little bit more, but other than that the looks are ok, can't complain, plus i did not buy this beast for its looks i bought it for the awsome picture.

This is an awsome "TV", the first time i turned it on i was kinda dissapointed. But after reading the manual and going to Toshiba's website, it did say that it take's about 90 days for the lenses to break in and boy when they did, this is a awsome TV. Considering i am on digital cable and the picture output is great and from what Toshiba says, it does not matter what the source of signal is it will project a clean and vibrant picture. For the price i paid and i got the 5 year extended warranty through good guys including delivery and tax for 3100.00 dollars. This TV retails at 3499.99, so yes i got a hell of a deal. I look at the Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Sony and came down to the Hitachi and Toshiba and the difference was the price, you can't go wrong. Sony is over price and all your paying for is the name, when it comes to projection Toshiba and Hitachi are the best.

Strength:

Great picture after convergence. "Cinema Wide" for dvd movies. Very good price paid.

Weakness:

Out of box convergence. Remote does not "learn". 4x3 can't be left on for very long or burn in will occur.

As soon as I had the tv unboxed and setup I noticed real bad convergence problems. User convergence did not fix it. I had an authorized Toshiba technician come out. He spent an hour and a half setting it up. He said most of the adjustments he needed to do were issues from the factory setup, not jostling from moving it around. He said definately do not run it very long in "natural" mode, which is the 4x3 format, or it will burn in because the HD screens are more susceptible to burn in. After he finished, the set looked pretty good. I have a Dish satellite, and certain channels look very stunning, while weaker stations look very grainy and washed out. The bigger the set, the more this holds true. The remote won't control a satellite receiver which bummed me out. My Dish receiver won't control this tv, so I'm stuck using two remotes. You would think Toshiba would have included "learning" capability with the remote. All in all, I am pretty happy with the set so far. I am seriously considering buying Toshiba's extended warranty right before this one expires. Don't have HD yet, but plan on getting it soon.

Strength:

Great picture in my basement rec room. Lots of connections for stuff. Easy to read and understand manuel.

Weakness:

None so far, but only two weeks old. You will need a good size room to really appreciate this TV.

This thing is huge, but the quality of the picture is outstanding. Lots of connections for Playstation etc...After the convergence was done, stunning.Read the manuel. DVD'S are what will really make this unit shine, movie theater quality. It should be placed in an area where you have total control over the lighting to achive the best results. Got a great deal on a total home theater package after Xmas so that always helps.

Strength:

TV Can make a great picture. 720P for those of us who want to watch ABC tv in 720P which is a better mode than 1080i which is actually 540 with line doubling.

Weakness:

Poor 9-Point User Convergence Interface. Poor Black Levels. No Autoswitching and DVD errors in manual for DVD settings. (DVD is not HD) Has a video mode that can cause burn in which is not covered by warranty? Why Have it? Poor Audio problem Hiss noise if you set volume to 1. (There is a fix for this but it requires a technician take apart your TV to do this) I have heard of power supply problems with Toshiba but since this TV is so new Im holding my breath. I also have a UPS hooked to the unit so Im hoping I dont have any more problems with the TV.

So far this TV has been nothing but a problem but what has been worse is dealing with Tweeters service departments and The Tweeters Manager. You never get an operator or a live person you always get a answering machine. Not to mention they take forever to call you back and parts take forever as well. Pray you never need service on your TV from them. Had it not been for the service menu 48 point convergence menu as apposed to the useless 9 point convergence menu on the regular user menu It would be going back to the manufacturer. Without those changes this TV looked like hell. Now after adjusting the convergence with the 48 points it is significantly better. Color was calibrated using a test generator and DVD essentials. This was something so dramatic and they should be ashamed for having something so bad out of spec leave the factory. At this point I wouldnt be surprised if this was a refurb sold as new. This is not a menu open to the public and you could do serious damage if not adjusted properly. However if they disabled the green from being moved and made it stationary in the user interface they could compete with Mitsubishi. My Biggest problems with this set is the user interface, the Poor Black Levels compared to other projections TV's, and Poor Service By tweeters. With a lot of extra work you can get this to look really great but unless you know what your doing you dont want this. This is not the TV for people who want out of the box quality. If you want that then get a Mitsubishi or Pioneer Elite. As for companies with good service Im not sure what the best route to take is.

Strength:

Outstanding HDTV, DVD pictures, ability to split cabinet for delivery, reliability.

Weakness:

None so far

GREAT TV! The picture with high quality sources such as HDTV and DVD is outstanding. There is no sign of the red push I have observed with pioneer sets. The set can be separated into two pieces, which was great for delivery to my second floor theater room. I previously owned a Toshiba 48" for eight years with no problems. Consumers rates Tosiba reliability on par with others. Sorry to hear about one individuals problem but it does not reflect on the hundreds of thousands of silent but happy owners. I will get ISF calibration after about 100 hours, just before the 2003 Superbowl in HDTV on ABC. Definately happy with purchase.

Strength:

great picture, easy to setup, awesome universal remote, future ready

Weakness:

none so far

I am very happy with this purchase.I thought my last tv had a good picture but when I compared the two, the Toshiba by far excelled my previous tv. I've set it up with my Video Essentials DVD. I don't think I could get a better picture other than if I called an ISF tech. Also love all the hookups.

Strength:

Good Picture when it works.

Weakness:

Poor Quality Control. Audio Buzz (Set Volume to 1 and you will easily hear it.) Both sets had this problem. Not sure they are reliable as I have had 2 of them with major problems.

Well my first 65HDX82 lasted 8 days before the Red Gun Popped on it. About a week later they delivered a replacement 65HDX82. This one out of the box was notibly not capable of darks like the first one was. Black was not Black but a muddy brown/black. When trying to adjust it I would lose too much of the picture for acceptable black tones. Ok a calibration is due so I scheduled it and Today the technician arrived to tell me they cant correct it. The problem is that the DIGITAL VIDEO SCAN CONVERTER & HYPER is not functioning correctly. This was out of the box so nothing I had caused this problem. I have to say I am not satisfied with Toshiba and suspect they have quality control problems. I think I will be switching to something else but nobody has 720P capability at a comparable price. Will talk to the sales person tommorow and he is seeing what can be done.
