The PRO-940 HD is the 42" "little sibling" of the 50" and 60" ELITE models that have essentially defined the high-end for HD plasmas. As such, it inheirits a wide range of advanced image, sound and programing features, as well as the stellar picture quality of the top range models. With HD sources, head to head with the best 42" models from Panasonic, Samsung and LG, the PRO-940 showed the most natural colors, responsiveness to fast motion, dark image detail and viewing angle, all in a very nicely finished piano-black & gold package. However, it is with standard definition material that the Pioneer seems to be streets ahead, upconverting basic cable material from Discovery & ESPN to near DVD-quality images. Multiple connection options include Cable-Card, two HDMI (rock-solid with input up to 1080i), component as well as regular and S-video. Sound quality from the bottom-mounted speaker is excellent, and surprisingly good audio-source 2.1output is available via RCA connectors. This is an absolutely outstanding TV, and well worth the premium pricing
