Horrible internal Progressive scan converter exhibiting bad chroma upsampling errors on any non-Progressive scan input material.

Plasma screen monitor capable of HDTV resolution, containing internal Interlace to Progressive scan circuits. Specifically, if you use a DVD player without CUE (chroma upsampling errors), like some, but not most, on the market, the progressive scan signal bypasses internal circuits and produces a ghost-free almost 3D image that is wondrous to behold. On the other hand, the input from a satellite TV receiver will be converted and exhibit many more videao artifacts that a normal CRT TV. If you watch DVD's more than you watch TV (as I do), you can buy a DVD player with excellent progressive scan output that shows the Pioneer has a sharp, excellent picture. But if you use a DVD player with CUE, the picture is poorer than many TV's at 1/6 the price. So Caveat emptor.

Lack of component video inputs, however every plasma brand only offers one. However, maybe there will be a new video board in the future with more than one component video input....

Unbelievable, absolutely the set to get from a price performance perspective. Fuji, Panasonic and Pioneer's 50in modles all have about the same picture quality, NEC close behind. But the 503CMX has a removable video board so you can upgrade it in the future if new standards are set (can you say DVI or Component video?). This is the only removeable video board out there. The Pioneer PDP5030HD is exactly the same monitor, except the video board is not removeable and it is marketed to stupid consumers for a higher price.
