Widescreen lcd panels Progressive inputs

If I had only one word it would be Fantastic! The vw10ht has been installed for 2 months now. The picture is always clear and crisp even at my 96 inch size. The brightness is very good even in the 'cinema black' mode which gives the bulb a 2000 hour life. The blacks are always grey on a projector but I don't find them a distraction.

This machine has native 16:9 aspect and Progressive input capability. The progressive Toshiba SD-5109 paired with it nicely to give an outstanding picture. The cables had to be custom made to reach the ceiling mount. About 30 feet for me and around $500 (for RGB, VGA, and S-video) from BetterCables who did a great job.

My machine did come with ONE dead pixel which always shows blue. According to Sony, this is not considered a defect! In my case the dead pixel is in the lower right corner and is not used for 4:3 material or Movies wider than 16:9 so I guess that's why they let it get by QC.

I did notice a few things I don't like. The air from the fan is forced to the front and directly into the path of the light. When running hot, this can distort the picture. I have only noticed this twice and both times it was while projecting Windows from the PC Inputs. In this case, the lines should have been clear and straight but I could see them warble on the left side of the screen. The second thing is the selection of the aspect ratio. Seven options are provided. Some are for 4:3 material and the rest for 'wide'. The problem is there are multiple wide options. The Sony does not auto detect. One very irritating thing is that some DVDs are released with 4:3 menus but Wide program material. This requires you to manually switch modes in order to see menu items placed at the bottom of the screen.

The manual says to clean the fan dust trap every 300 hours. This is not easy to do for ceiling mount machines like mine. I have to take the whole thing down as there is no way to remove the dust cover when mounted flush. The Lamp Timer says I have already used over 350 hours on this 2000 hour bulb so if you use this as you primary TV it will cost you around $50 a month for bulb replacement.

This projector beat all others I previewed in many ways most important detail and brightness. Five stars!

Strength:

Everytihng!!!(The BLACK is enough!!!It is overrated that product needs more blackness...IT`S ENOUGH!!!!)

Weakness:

1.)Probably the service...What happens if you get VW10 with few dead pixels???I don`t think that that is O.K.
2.)The BULB-2000 hours and cost about $450

Well, you want it big, beautiful and powerful than look no further. The VPL-VW10Ht is a benchmark product.16:9 panel,
s-video and data connections with intergrated line doubler,
black cinema mode and keystone function-it has it all!!!
Picture quality is the best on the market(better than Davis DPL) and brightness of 1000 ANSI lumens - more than enough...
I was affraid to get a product with some dead pixels, but to my satisfaction the machine was flawless...
You can`t go wrong,
BUY IT !!!!
