Strength:

Picture, picture, picture. Film-like (without the film-tears) is the only way to describe

Weakness:

fan noise, no true black ever

Bang for the buck before it was discontinued. Might be the dila from JVC now.

Picture from an LCD projector is great, doesn't even compare to the sharp high-res because of the screen door effect (sony uses staggered and almost eliminates problem). This was the biggest investment in my setup, but the video would have been on anything decent. I am extremely happy I went with this over a large screen projection tv unit. No huge cabinet and I can get whatever screen I want to have any size probably past 300". If you crank the zoom all the way out, the picture still looks perfect and doesn't take much from brightness.

Of course, on the other side, LCD's can't do blacks and this sony is no exception. Also, fan noise is kind of bad. I'm sure some would find it unacceptable (if they could be deterred from the awesome picture). so you almost have to build an enclosure or put behind a wall, or buy a lot of amps and hope you won't wake up jr. I did a basic enclosure to absorb about half of the sound which is good until I someday sink it behind the wall (and maybe put the light through the mouth of a lion head statue on the wall, COOL!!).

Using with Yamaha HTR-5280, Polk 7300 Sat/sub, JVC 501 DVD, Da-Lite 106" 16x9 screen, and an older hi-fi st JVC VCR for the tv signal. Hopefully a high-def reciever in the future when more stuff goes air.
