Strength:
The box in came in made a great fort for my son.
Weakness:
Short lived performance.Should last a bit longer for the price. I have owned this t.v for a year and a half now.Is it unreasonable for me to think that a new t.v.should perform well this long or is it normal for it to crap out 3 months after the warranty expires? It now takes 1 hour for all the picture distortions and colour bleeding to go away before the picture actually clears up.eventually, when the picture clears,(after I have missed my favourite program) It looks pretty good. Also,a week after I purchased mine,I told a co-worker about the great picture and price,so he bought one too.A month later he noticed a green streak in the upper left corner that would not go away.He hasn't spoken to me since. My recommendation is to purchase the extended warranty at any price because i am told my picture tube needs replacing at pretty close to the cost of a new set.Nuff said. |

Weakness:
front a/v input jacks are a little loose...still work, and are hidden by the lid...not a big deal If you want an extremely capable tv with great picture quality that will challenge the Panasonic Gaoo and Sony Wega, but at half the price...this is it. It's not quite as good a picture as the other two, and doesn't have the same sound capabilities, although sounds far better than most 32' ers. The big sell is the price. You get about 90% of the performance of a Gaoo or Wega at 60% the cost. It will blow the other 32" TV's out of the water... Very impressed with the Theater Video mode...JVC has really turned themselves around in the last 4 years. Similar Products Used: Sony 32"--two years old-- |

Strength:
Picture, sound, component video inputs
Weakness:
Power LED is too bright. Picture seems to have a slight tilt which is un-noticeable to everyone except me. Great for DVD playback. Colors are excellent. Best TV sound that I've heard - no need to use my HT components for casual viewing. Very happy with this set....... Similar Products Used: Researched almost every other 32" TV out there |

Strength:
A high quality off-air tuner, very good picture quality, component video input, reasonably good sounding speakers, decent remote, very good value.
Weakness:
No rabbit ears (just joking...kind of). Lack of PAL display capability (an almost universal weakness of TVs designed for the U.S. market). Can't rewrite badly written tv scripts. I originally posted this review under the AV-32D200 (predecessor model) section, but since the powers that be have now given this (now) new model its owm section, I am cutting and pasting my review so it is included the actual model number. Weakness:
None so far I bought the 32D501. The only diff from the 201 is PIP. I love this TV. The colors and pic quality is incredible. For the price, it is unbeatable. |

Strength:
Incredible, wonderful picture, great sound, features, seems to be high quality, well built.
Weakness:
Large, my coffee table became the TV stand! Spendy, I got a great deal on an open box model with a three year "performance contract" Well, I guess you could say I've "been to the mountain and heard the truth" Well, that's a bit hokey, but I have comparison shopped the hell out of the TV market and learned a lot the past couple of months. At first, I just wanted a big, 36" screen. I didn't want, nor could afford to pay the money for the truly big screen projection sets, that'll be my next upgrade a few years down the road! So, After internet "research" I decided on the Panasonic SF series, but alas, too expensive. Then, I got very hot and excited about Sony Wega, but again, too expensive and although I almost got the 32" Wega, I really wanted a big picture and wanted a 36" set. So... I decided on the JVC D series 36", due mostly to salespeople recommendation and this site. However, the night I went to buy it, all the stores were out of them and I sure didn't want to wait one to three weeks! (too impatient for that!) Instead I got a 36" Panasonic, the CT 36D20. It wasn't my first choice, but it was a pretty nice set, with an okay picture. However, it had a couple little problems, and I had that nagging feeling that the JVC was a better set. So, on the 30th day, (Circuit City -- great place to do business and a 30 day return policy!) I went in and returned the Panasonic for an open box JVC 36D201, with the three year "performance service warranty" and delivery the next day. (I hope the service contract works if I ever need it, I usually don't go for those things!) Similar Products Used: Samsung 27", New Panasonic 36" |

Strength:
Excellent quality picture, high-resolution, solid blacks and excellent fine tuning options. Simulated surround sound is cool if you don't want to turn your surround sound receiver on for normal TV Viewing. Incredible value and price for a high quality component.
Weakness:
Sound. Some here like the sound of the speakers. My 15-year old Sony had much better sound overall. Specifically, the JVC lacks bass. Mid-range and treble are good. First of all, like many others here, I wanted the Sony Wega badly. Couldn't get past the price tag. I looked at other TV's between $750-$900 and was prejudiced against the JVC because my experience has always been that you get what you paid for. I have gone for lesser expensive items in the past and have almost always regretted it (there are exceptions, but that has been the overwhelmingly general rule). Side by side comparison finally convinced me to purchase the JVC. Plus, leading consumer review magazines rate the JVC as one of the most reliable 32+" TV's out there.
