no aspect ratio adjustment on vga input no progressive component input

I didn't used to care for video, with the whole dvd revolution that changed. When I found this T.V. I fell in love! The styling, build quality, sound quality, and ultimately the picture itself are unsurpassed in this class. I was using it in conjunction with a dvdo i-scan plus scaler through its high scan vga input and then it wasn't fair. The only problem was you couldn't adjust the aspect ratio at that point. But, when watching an anamorphic widescreen dvd it proved to be the best picture to date that I have seen. I can't say enough good things about the set.

Looks,picture and sound

Cabinet problem I mentioned in my summary

superb all rounder,sounds fantastic and looks great.I have hooked this through my teac 300 system and listening and watching music channels is a joy to behold. One small problem is the cabinet,that comes with the planus has to be slightly opened when flicking through my digi box channels,as I have this housed inside the cabinet,but I can live with this.

Purchase Price above is in Aussie dollars!! After agonising over whether to purchase a Xelos or Planus i finally decided on the graphite Planus. The styling and sound (i am not planning to hook up a sound system to this set) were the clinched. Awesome TV that really gets noticed!!

i just purchased the set and have owned it for 2 days...let me tell you those two days have been delightful. the coloring and sound when hooked up to the arcam dv88 is unreal. Movies will never be the same. Watching Michael Jordan's IMAX dvd was amazing. Larger and Crisper than I have ever seen him before. James Taylor, DMB, and Kenny Loggins sounded incredible...I have no complaints. This setup was worth every hard earned dollar!!!! Cheers!

Sophisticated industrial design. Surperb picture quality

I researched many TVs before choosing the Planus.
I wanted that German Design and quality, great tube and rich but real colours (unlike jap brands) without the B&O price tag.

I have had the TV for 2 years and i still get a buzz every time we watch something on it. Movies/DVDs are great and the Blacks are BLACK. Sport is so crisp.

Get a Loewe DVD to match RGB Scart mmmm...

I like the loewe planus, it's a great t.v. but everything fails in comparison to the B&O avant, the picture is so good it makes some things look bad because you can tell the fake sets. 3d picture i mean really 3d motion is fluid not like all other video, it looks REAL!you have to adjust your eyes and i watched all sources, vcr looked like an incredible dvd, dvd and sat looked better than high def.
find a B&O store and go look at it!

Before purchasing I compared the Planus against the Panasonic TAU 34" widescreen and the Loewe delivered a better picture and incredible sound for a "stock" system.
Even though the Tau offered a bigger tube and the ability to display 1080i as well as the Loewe's 480p, the Planus offered a picture just as good in 4:3 and vastly superior picture when expanded into its "panorama" mode. Since the majority of viewing at this time is 4:3 the ability to render high quality video in an expanded picture mode was vitally important.It was no contest in the sound department, as I plan on using the Planus' stock speakers as my main audio source for my listening pleasure. When you combine the outstanding design of the Planus, along with the aforementioned features, it was an easy win for the Loewe! As every manufacturer is now beginning to build their first generation of digital tv, this product is the sixth generation of Loewe digital tv, couple this with legendary German build quality and I can entusiastically reccomend the Loewe planus to anyone desiring a high quality TV, in which to base your home entertainment system around!

Superb picture quality: can integrate with DVD and satellite howver, as in my system both of these are separate can only control TV from satellite remote: oh for a a standardised set of remote control for use at a personl level. Otherwise good representation of widescreen and superior 4:3 picture

Slight bias towards the left of the picture: easily corrected using on-screen instructions for tilt however, can still be irritating

Quotes use of software to run: are there upgrades to run? If so they should set up on a download site to be upgraded by computer or telephone connection via visa.

Significant delay in channel changing...

Allow the paging through each page of teletext instead of having to re-enter page number, minor issue, but annoying...

slow channel changing

Best TV I've owned, but all my previous ones have been under $1000.- so this is my first high-end TV. I was looking for a 16x9 TV for my growing collection of DVD's and this is the only one I found under $4000.-. I thought I would have to resort to buying a rear projection TV but I'm glad I found the PLANUS because the picture on this TV is better than any other I was shopping. DVD's are incredible on this TV and sounds great even w/o my surround sound system on.

Remote has a 'cheap' feel to it.

I wanted a Widescreen TV and looked at all the European built sets (Loewe, Metz, Phillips & Grundig). All use Phillips tubes, but the Loewe had the best picture for the money, and also looked the most stylish.

I was really impressed with the Loewe 3 year in house warranty, free deliverly and free install. (no one else offered this)

The picture is outstanding. Bright and clear, without the obvious digital processing that I notice on the Sony Wega sets. Its just amazing with anamorphic DVDs and the digital motion compensation gives perfectly smooth panning (which can be switched off)

Sound is quite impressive from the built in speakers, but for DVDs you need to invest in a home theatre amp.

The TV has inputs galore, three SCART connectors, VGA, S-Video and composite.

The only disapointing feature is the remote. Whilst easy to use and not overloaded with buttons, it has a very cheap plastic feel to it. I have an older Loewe 4:3 TV (CT1170), and that remote is solid and is well weighted.
