Strength:

Line doubler and progressive scan

Weakness:

Remote, poor documentation

This was a major upgrade from a TV bought in 1982. Wanted to fit into existing entertainment center, and this was perfect. Something worth noting is that you can use the built in speakers as the center channel, and if you're tight on space this can allow a full 5.1 setup without adding furniture.

The picture is fantastic, especially with DVD. Using a Toshiba 5109 with progressive scan outputs direct to TV. Spent a few hours adjusting all the parameters, but set came with DVD for this purpose, and it was sort of fun.

The remote is loaded with little buttons that are hard to find and use. Layout is complex and unintuitive. The enter/action button is in the center of the volume/channel pad, and hard to hit right. Not critical, just annoying.

This is an expensive set for 32", but I think its the best available, including Sony WEGA. I've found Panasonic to be much more reliable than Sony. Every Sony electronics device, including phones, have been a problem, and I've decided never to buy them again.

Strength:

Best 32" SDTV out there. Progressive Scan, 16:9 anamorphic.

Weakness:

Those terrible white lines in 16:9 w/ non progressive DVD player. Only one set of component inputs

Why have this set if you can't take advantage of the 16:9 anamorphic mode. Unfortunately, I'm trading up to the new Panasonic CT32HX40 because of these white dashes when watching DVDs. This TV and my current Toshiba SD4109 Non progressive player shows these lines. This TV and the Toshiba new 6200 Progessive scan DVD player ($800.00) is even worse. Now you get light gray bars below the black bars. I don't have the service manual and have never made any adjustments besides color settings rec by a reviewer who used VE. I love this TV. If there's any way to get rid of this effect w/o having to buy an over $1000.00 DVD player, I'll keep it. Otherwise the only combination that I've seen w/o white dashes or gray on top and bottom is the new CT32HX40 and Toshiba SD 6200.

Thanks.
