Strength:
-many inputs (component & svid) -DVD player -proper audio output (line level always) -fantastic picture quality
Weakness:
-when muted, "MUTE" is always displayed. -DVD player lacks some features. -video inputs cannot be switched to without changing the channel below ch0. Although, this is easily resolved by programming the video inputs as "favourites". -the particular TV I own has a problem with the power button, I have to hit it several times to turn the TV on and off. Quality TV, wonderful image quality, many inputs, including svideo and component. The built in DVD player is lacking, but what can you expect from something that's built in. Not one place in the manual did it mention that the DVD player would play mp3's, so I popped in a mp3 cd, and away it played, with a rather nice menu system. The downside of the mp3 player is that it cannot skip forward or back, so if you only want to listen to part of a track (like a big live recording) you have to listen to the whole thing. Another downer of using a built in DVD player to play mp3's or cd's is that you cannot turn off the TV and just listen. I am worried that after a few too many discs have been played, there may be some burn-in on the screen. Other then that, the DVD player plays DVD's just dandy, though not home made ones unfortunately. It has a Dolby Digital Decoder, no DTS, and the TV lacks optical output for surround sound. Again, it's a small TV, very suitable for a bedroom, where surroundsound isn't your main concern. I am quite impressed with the quality of this TV. wonderful picture quality, has "Dynamic Noise Reduction" for poor quality reception aka farmer-vision. It's audio output stays at line level, and does not change when you change the tv's volume. This is a good thing, and I wish more TV's had a proper audio output such as this one. When using the audio output, none of the sound adjustments are applied from the tv, the signal is left untouched, and your reciever gets to do all the work, like it should be. One thing I didn't enjoy is that when using the audio output, you will most likely want to mute the TV's speakers. When you hit the mute button, the word "MUTE" is slapped in the corner of the screen, and doesn't go away. So you have to manually turn the volume to zero. All in all, a great tv with low power cunsumption, and costs roughly the same price as equal TV's without a DVD player built in.
