Strength:

Flat screen, Ultra Fast Teletext with subpage memory,Digital Natural Motion

Weakness:

None

This is one of the best Philips KTV's with his real flat tube and a good sound (for television speakers). He has a really fast teletext and memory for 1200 pages so you don't have to wait at all. There are a lott of features like active control 16x zoom freeze dual screen (txt and tv) and a lot more. Really a great television. There is also a beatifull stand for television which is in the same shape as the television.

Strength:

Image quality, Natural Digital Motion 100 Hz
Design

Weakness:

Remote

This is a very nice tv. And the only weakness i can tell about is the remote. It's a nice remote but the funktion buttoms is not well placed.
Picture: The contour of moving objects looks strange when the motion estimation algorithm fails (=halo).
But you can live with that :)
This is the best tv on the market i have seen.

Strength:

Digital Natural Motion, fast teletext, acceptable sound, superb overall picture quality, looks good with matching cabinet

Weakness:

No component video inputs (minor weakness)

I couldn't be more happy with this set. After a 3 months search I came to the conclusion that, in this price range, you won't get much better than this Philips. Picture quality (as well as audio) is a pretty personal thing but for me, neither the Sony or Panasonic sets could deliver a picture with such a 3D feel, color depth and smooth rendering of moving objects than this Philips. Audio quality is also acceptable for TV-speakers but don't expect too much.

For the rest, the TV is easy to use, I only wish Philips hadn't put the button to change the picture format under the small cover at the bottom of the remote.

The only weakness for me is that it has no component video inputs but you can't have everything for a respectable price right? It has 3 scart sockets, 2 of which are RGB capable that deliver excellent picture quality so those will do for most users.

I must admit that Digital Natural Motion looks strange the first time you see it, but after a few minutes getting used to it, you won't watch a movie in the regular 100Hz or 100Hz Digital Scan ever again. DNM offers you real smooth movement and a good 3D feel of the image, from DVD as well as from off-air broadcasts although it's not perfect. Having a closer look at very fast moving objects might reveal some artifacts but you have to know what to look for, otherwise you will never notice. In my opinion it's one of the better motion compensation algorithms currently available is mass market products.

In the end, I'm just happy that I bought the 32inch version. I was concidering buying the 28inch set but if you want a TV for HT use, 32" is a minimum I guess. There is also a 36" version but it would blow my budget to pieces.

I'm using Philips 32PW9525 TV, Marantz DV6200 dvd player and
Qed Sqart 4110 scart cable

Strength:

Image quality, sound, features. The best (analogue) TV I can imagine for that reasonable price.

Weakness:

TV-text only in 16:9 wide mode (or have I missed something?)

My first 16:9 tv after my Grundig TV (expensive 100 Hertz 4:3 TV for the same price, was great, but crashed after a few years). Why haven't I bought this PHILIPS TV set earlier? Great for my more than 150 DVDs, great for the normal TV (German PAL). Seems like adding at least 1/2 a dimension more to watching. Even TV stations that had bad quality on my previous TV have better quality using this tuner. I re-discovered TV and my DVD collection! I like the sound by the builtin loudspeakers, but for DVD I use my Yamaha 596 Digital Dolby Receiver.
I had none of the problems with some high beep sound and with geometry. And if geometry would be a problem: The service menue still works... (Revision MGI 3.1/12R)

Strength:

Picture, Sound, Looks, Features

Weakness:

Depth of case (i'd like a plasma)

When shopping for TV's, I had a few minimum requirements.
1. 32" Wide Screen
2. Nice Sound
3. Good looks
4. Built in stand/shelves

I kept going back to this TV but it was too expensive, and nearly brought a sony instead, but i eventually found it cheaper - raah.

Picture is Excellent, Sound is great, Looks the biz :)

Strength:

The picture quality is truly OUTSTANDING !! Almost indescribable (Sic) IT'S ALIVE !!!!!!!

Weakness:

Overall, not as pretty looking a set as some other Philips 32" units - but hey... thats like 0.1% of criticism.

Before I commence my attempt to convince readers of this units capability - let's get one thing straight.....my eyesight is 20/20 (confirmed by my optician). Now let's see, what I can say...... Wwwwoooohhh !!!! .....The picture on this set WILL re-define the way you see every movie you have ever seen. In NATURAL MOTION mode nothing can or will compare to this picture. I have examined all other 32" sets on the market and NOTHING Mr. Sony, Mr. Toshiba, Mr. JVC (you name them) compares. I have read other reviews on this site and can wholeheartedly agree with all positive users. All other incidental features on this set are great. If like me you have intergrated the set into your home cinema system you will appreciate the dolby sound features, the text, the dual screen etc, etc... but let's be honest.... all of that is a very big second to the picture. My freinds think I'm cookoo....until I press play on my DVD - then they drool on my carpet!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't fool yourself with anything else.

Strength:

Digital Natural Motion, Active Image Control, Dolby Pro-Logic

Weakness:

NONE!

It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life: with its great look, sometimes it really looks like a portrait on the wall of your house.
I've checked out lots of TVs (even plasma TVs), but this Philips is quite better even then the best Sony televisions.
The black IS black, soft image even with the digital scan.
And Digital Natural Motion IS the next thing: try to watch a DVD with it, and you gonna ask yourself: 'What the hell did I use to watch before?'.
No way you can't choose this one, if you can.

Strength:

Outstanding picture, colors I've never seen this clear and defined.

Weakness:

The Digitial Natural Motion at first is a bit weird. It makes movies appear more like a simulation than a movie. After a week or so, the NDM becomes a strength.

I actually got the 34" and this TV rocks! I had been looking for a TV with a 16:9 ratio for movies, but one that didn't take up the entire Living room. This one fits perfectly in my media niche.

Let's start with the picture...the sharpest picture I've ever seen for a TV under 10K. The colors are so clear and vibrant, it will change the way you watch movies. The sound is good, but I use my Denon 3600 to handle that w/ NHT super-zeros. I loved my sound system before, but now...watching DVD movies are indescribable.

The Natural Digitial Motion is bizarre at first, but it is mezmorizing. Once you get used to the way it displays motion, you'll think other TVs are dead. This TV almost makes it seem as if you are watching a computer simulation of the movie, instead of just the movie. It is hard to explain, it must be experienced. Use the Saving private Ryan DVD for a test or Armagedon. I paid full price for the 34" and it was worth every penny!

Strength:

Image quality, Natural Digital Motion 100 Hz

Weakness:

Quality, Natural Digital Motion!, Sound

Reading the technical specification and reviews this TV seems to be outstanding. At the store I was quite impressed of this TV, especially its 100 Hz mode, but after purchasing it I realised that this TV should never left the factory. There was a loud annoying humming in the speakers, specifically in the center speaker. According to Philips, "Normal background noise"!! The next problem was the CRT since it started to howl when it become warm, and this was really a loud noise that was noticed by everbody in the room. If this wasn't enough there were loose contacts as well... The geomerty was almost perfect but the whole image couldn't be seen and needed adjustments from the service menu. Unfortunately I couldn't reach it using the instructions on the Internet.

The Digital Natural Motion(DNM) does a good job when converting 50 Hz to 100 Hz reducing a far amount of the 100 Hz artifacts that can be seen for instance on fast moving objects. BUT after a while you start to see a new type of distortion due to the "Halo" effect. The contour of moving objects looks strange when the motion estimation algorithm fails (=halo).

Today I visited the store to purchase a better TV when I heard a familar sine-like howl. This time it was a Philips 29" Real Flat CRT. I don't thrust the quality of Philips anymore...
