Picture Quality

I did not actually purchase the 36705 but the 36715. What attracted me to this set was the styling, price and Guide + feature.

I have since had two of these sets and will be sending second back for a different set. The first set started to make a high pitched whistling noise and had two darker vertical bands in the picture tube that were very noticable on darker images (such as the movie Pitch Black). After fighting with ABC and having a technician certify that there indeed were problems with the set, ABC sent me a second. So far (5 days) there is no whistling, however the black bands are beginning to appear. Also, this set (as well as other RCA sets I have since looked at) seems to have a problem with its geometry setting. All straight lines such as information tickers on ESPN and CNN and the black bars on a letterbox DVD appear curved. It is very annoying when watching a DVD.

I now have to have a technician come out once again to verify there is a problem. This time I think I will get at WEGA.
