Samsung TSK2792F Standard Televisions

Samsung TSK2792F Standard Televisions

DESCRIPTION

Samsung is proud to introduce a new generation of DynaFlatâ„¢ ED televisions that dynamically brings tomorrow's picture quality to the market today. The tube surface is Flat, drastically reducing distortion and glare found on conventional curved sets. Samsung's TSK2792F elevates the television viewing experience by up-converting incoming analog sources to a progressive scan 480p display eliminating conventional TV scan lines for a "flicker-free" picture. The Television Broadcast Industry is in the process of shifting to the more technologically advanced and visibly better digital picture. Since there are many digital TV formats, a set top box is required to translate them, such as the Samsung SIR series DTV receiver/decoder. A 480p DVD/DTV Component Video Input provides the flexibility to receive digital broadcasts from terrestrial broadcasts, cable systems, or satellite receivers. TSK2792F is a bridge between today's standard NTSC TV and the emerging DTV program content because it can play both. When you are ready to take the next step up, your Samsung DynaFlatâ„¢ ED TV is already there.

Request for HELP! I need someone to enter the service mode of their 2792f (with TV off, push mute, then 1, 8, 2 and then power. Please go under the picture and geometric fields (using the joystick on remote) and write down all the values/numbers of the listed setting parameters. Mine have been changed, and I want to set them to factory specs. There will be approximately 12 values in geo and 12 in picture. I thank you.

Strength:

Outstanding Image quality, (when watching a DVD in progressive mode). Beautiful design. Great sound.

Weakness:

Unacceptable image reception on cable and on vhs.

I was so disapointed with this tv set, that I returned it and took the spectacular Sony Trinitron Wega, instead.

I admit it, the progressive scan DVD image was stunning, but problem is, I do not only watch DVDs. I also watch television shows and VHS. And in that field... well this tv is simply awful.

I could not believe it at first. I tought that the settings were incorrect, but of course that wasn't the case. I have never seen as many digital artifacts on any other tv before. It looks as if the screen is dirty all the time. When there is camera movement, the result is simply unacceptable. I just cannot understand how some people can get use to it.

For my money, a good television has to be good in every aspect, not only paired with a DVD player. I don't think it is the time for digital TVs yet. Maybe in five or six years.

Strength:

A digital tv for inder 1k, best built in tv speakers i have ever heard. Had pro-logic decoder. Amazing picture. Multipe inputs.

Weakness:

pricy, only 27 inches. Remote universal, is a pain to use with anything else then the tv

I use this tv with a pioneer dv-434 dvd played and it looks great. the tv has a decent subwoofer and the sound is great. Progressive scan is impressive. pro-logic decoding is good for starters. A very good tv, i recomend it.

Strength:

Beautiful crisp picture, nice size for those who don't want a big screen and yet want DTV quality with PROGRESSIVE SCAN

Weakness:

Yes, it is heavy, W I D E and evidently being discontinued

We run a small digital video editing business and were looking for a demo TV set to wow clients. We record onto DVD's (DVD-R format) and want to impress customers with the quality. I have have much the same buying experience with this set as others who posted. Off to Best Buy to browse without being bothered...notice the incredible clarity and precision of the 2790F TV against others both similar and way beyond it in price....Check the model number and price: TSK 2790F...$799. Consider buying it on the spot, then my senses kick in and I go home for further research. Find out about the differences (that have been mentioned here) between the 2792F and the 2790F. Bought the 2792f for the same price by walking in and out of Tweeter Etc. in San Diego.

The best thing about this set is how it treats people watching custom made DVDs (from a Pioneer DV434 Progressive Scan player). Most people are physically siezed by its picture...many people are interested enough to look closely enough to notice hardly any artifacting...

I have heard that Samsung is replacing this set with a "TSL" series TV in the same diameter and box but HDTV to 1080i...It will likely be a buy at $1200 as well...

If you can still find it, buy it...you won't be sorry. Just measure your cabinet first...37"hx23w"x20"d

none that i can see

i just got the tv and it works great. it was an open box. they had the same model on sale for $1000 and i saw it for $699 so i grabbed it. the upconversion to progressive scan is awesome. i can't wait to get a p. scan dvd player to see it really shine. i can't comment on the audio as i'm just using it as a monitor. i highly recommend this television. it's extremely functional and aesthetically pleasing... e-mail me with questions...
peace

by the way... $1000 is a reasonable price as well for this set

Strength:

Excellent image quality, value, flexibility

Weakness:

Heavy

For the price, you get a tremendous bargain in a TV that will serve as an excellent secondary set (with your primary set being a big screen). This thing is so flexible. The progressive scan display occasionally makes DirecTV broadcasts look (on some channels/shows) like DVDs! The component video inputs accept both non-progressive (DVD input) and progressive inputs (DTV input), and these just blow me away. I've thrown a couple of DVDs through to get an idea of the image quality (the first night I'd gotten it): X-Men (great), Gladiator (unreal), Matrix (impressive), and Bug's Life (oh my god!). No scanlines to be found, the picture truly approaches HDTV quality. Speaking of HDTV, I hooked up my Toshiba DST3000 HDTV receiver to it, and the one channel I'm currently getting (with my indoor antennae) comes through crystal clear. The manually says that this set supports both 480p and 1080i natively, so I don't see why I won't be able to view HDTV content on it as well. Maybe I'm being too optimistic here, but I don't know why it couldn't. Finally, this set has so many ways to hook up components, and when I first hooked up one of my DVD players, I forgot that I had used s-video instead of the component video, and yet, I nearly made the mistake of thinking it was progressive scan DVD content! This set truly makes analog feeds look better, but the worse the signal the less this set (or any set) can do to remedy that. I wholehearted recommend this product; I did a lot of research before picking up this 27", but so far, no complaints and I'm loving every minute with it.

While there are perhaps more positive things I can say about this TV's features, what bothers me most is its picture quality. I am not sure I like the digitized effect this tube creates. It's definitely hard for me to get used to. My friend doesn't mind it, so you'll have to see it for yourself. Taking a typical 480interlaced reception and making it 480p doesn't always work to its advantage because it give the picture quality a bit blocky as if you were watching a VCD. The quality improves a bit on DVD. From my observation, the pic quality is outstanding when it comes to displaying text or stationary objects on the screen. When there's a lot of motion, it gets blocky. Again, this is just my preference. I am used to TV with lines. However, when I sit a bit further than usual to view the screen, the picture quality is amazing. The 16:9 mode is, I guess, like Sony WEGA 16:9 enhancement slighty improving anamorphic DVD quality. It's overall a good tv. Just preview it (tv reception and dvd) before you buy.

Strength:

The BEST PICTURE in a 27" tube, abundant inputs, progressive scan capability, a ton of convenience features like split-screen PIP and surf timer, great remote

Weakness:

Sports programs (Cable TV) tend to have "digital artifacts" from close up, VHS tapes look like crap

Simply put, this is the best 27" tube TV you can buy. Everything but VHS looks better on this TV. When paired with a good progressive scan DVD player the picture is *unbelievable*. I'm sure the sound is pretty good too but I have the speakers off and the sound routed through my receiver. A ton of inputs and convenience features make this TV even better. It has 2 composite ins, 1 S-video/composite in, and 1 component in on the back, as well as an A/V input with S-video and a headphone jack on the pop-out side panel. The split screen PIP is great for sports programs (you can even listen to the 2nd picture from the headphone jack) or whatever else you watch for that matter.
