Strength:

GREAT PICTURE, ALOT OF FETURES

Weakness:

NONE SO-FAR

JUST BOUGHT THIS TV AND SO-FAR SO-GOOD. PICTURE IS GREAT AND I LIKE HOW WHEN YOU SHUT TV OFF, IT MAKES A BEEPING SOUND.I TRIED BUYING A SONY OR TOSHIBA TV FOR MY ENTERTAIMENT CENTER; HOWEVER,THE WIDTH OF THE SET WAS TOO LARGE AND WOULD NOT FIT THE FREE SPACE, SO I DECIDED TO PURCHASE THE SAMSUNG. I PLAYED A FEW MOVIES AND THE PICTURE WAS UNBELIEVABLE, ALSO IT LOOKS APPEALING TO THE NAKED EYE. AND FOR THE PRICE, YOU CANT BEAT IT. WHY PAY 600.00 FOR A SONY OR TOSHIBA, WHERE SAMSUNG IS AS GOOD AS THESE NAME BRANDS.

Strength:

More features than you can shake a stick at! Everything you ever wanted to adjust can be adjusted. Great picture . . . . eventually.

Weakness:

Quality is definately an issue with this TV. Not as user friendly as other brands. The input configuration is a little strange. If you have a DVD player AND a VCR with S-Video out, there is only one audio input so you have to choose which one you want to use and hook up the other one with regular A/V cables. Pretty lame. Also, the width and height of the set is abnormally large.

This TV is so close to being perfect. BUT, it has some flaws that shouldn't be overlooked. The biggest complaint I had (meaning I returned it) was the quality. Mine had red and blue bleeding in from the edges of the screen for a few hours, then the whole screen went wacky after I moved the TV, and then a little while later it was mysteriously perfect - all in a matter of 12 hours! The final dagger came when everything was working well and I was unplugging one of the composite cables - the whole jack broke right off the back of the TV. I had NONE of these problems with my Sony (although it was overpriced and featureless). So I decided to return it and save up for a model with similar features from another brand (twice the money). If you get a good one, I would bet you're lucky and you should keep it.

Strength:

Everything. The best 27 inch Flat screen geometry by far. 800 lines of resolution and widescreen viewing mode. Good warranty, component video, vibrant colors and stylish looks.

Weakness:

Pathetically bad factory presets - it takes a little time to fix (very heavy on the red coloring), but once its corrected the picture is OUTSTANDING. The remote is ok but could be a little better. The 800 lines of resolution is sometimes TOO GOOD - channels with crappy signals look slightly grainy at times -- this is a MINOR complaint. The menu screens to change the color, brightness, etc., can be a little more convenient to get to.

It was time for me to buy my first real televesion - I wanted a 27 inch and a Flat Screen. Over the years I've always liked the Sony TVs best. After checking out the Sony 27in Wega sets in a few stores I came away scratching my head...although I liked the unbeatable sharpness of picture, there were obvious geometric problems at the bottom and the corners of the screen, PLUS a major quality control issue with the non-PIP model (found this out during online research). I looked at other 27in flat screens by: Panasonic (similar problems to Sony), JVC (overpriced), Toshiba (major geometry problems) and the hard-to-find Samsung (looked GREAT, but I never knew anyone who owned a Samsung!). After researching the samsung model online and fiddling with the picture in the store (this took a while), I decided to buy it and I couldn't be happier. It is BY FAR the best TV I've ever watched a DVD on (I use the component video). The Widescreen mode for DVDs is an amazing feature which provides unbelievable clarity. The 800 lines of horizontal resolution is phenomenal; especially for DVDs. Very Good sound. Good warranty - you get 3 extra months if you register online and if there's a problem Samsung will send someone to your home. Stylish looks. I feel that I made a GREAT purchase and I highly recommend this set. The price is right, for the features it has it's an unbeatable value. I think most people overlook this set b/c of its horrible factory presets for color, tint, sharpness etc., that are displayed in the stores. This can be easily corrected.

Strength:

Great price, tons of features, excellent geometry, marvelous picture quality, powerful speakers.

Weakness:

Average remote, 1 s-video input

This beauty just keeps getting better! I''v had this now for a couple of days and it keeps reminding me what a great purchase I made. Before I purchased this set, I did a little research over the net. I checked on different competing models like panasonic''s tau, jvc i-art, sony''s wega, etc... There was a resounding view for this particular model everywhere. BUY IT! So I went to Bestbuy, but they were sold out for the moment. They had it at $404 too (sale). I then went to my local PC Richards, and voila! They had one. Their price was $460, but there was a gentleman kind enough to price match Bestbuy. This tv has tons of features like 16:9 viewing, 800 lines of resolution (most don''t have this for this price), 20 watts of total audio, and a host of others. Plus it even comes with an extra Samsung 3 month warranty added to its original one when you mail in the registration card. This TV compliments my decent home theater setup nicely. Halo for my Microsoft Xbox never looked better!

Strength:

Great picture and sound in a flat screen under 400.

Weakness:

None yet

I bought the Akai clone made and serviced by samsung usa. Love the picture and looks. But i was unaware this was HD im sure its analog with a great 800 line resolution. My DVDs look tens times better than my old JVC.(componet nust have something to do with this). Im not sure what people are talking about geometry but letterbox does look great. Great customer service I got a bum remote called and in 7 days got a new one even though the one they sent says samsung.

Strength:

Perfect geometry out of the box, great picture after VE calibration, good sound if you need to use it, component inputs, the list goes on and on

Weakness:

You can only adjust one of the setting modes, the remote isn''t all that wonderful

There''s not much to say that hasn''t been said already on this page - this TV rocks. I was originally looking at the Wega and Toshiba but was a little worried about the problems I had read about on this and other sites. When I went into the store I saw the Samsung next to them and was impressed even with the crappy Bestbuy calibration. My initial impressions combined with a huge discount (god Bestbuy employees can be slow) made my decision for me. The only problem is that I now feel the need to push Samsung on all my friends.... Also, in case anyone didn''t know, you can add 3 months to the 1 year warranty on this set by registering it at www.samsungusa.com. They do in home service for any TV above 26".

Strength:

Good sound and picture.

Weakness:

Heavy. Remote is just OK. Red push.

This TV looks great. The case is black (instead of the ''standard'' silver/grey other flats have) which I think looks better. The picture has the red push but with some tweaking becomes near non-existent. Looked at Sony, Toshiba and Panasonic flats. I think this had the best picture. Also, a pet peeve of mine is the ''trap'' door on the front of TVs. This model was the ONLY one I found (in the flats) that did not have a door. The other TVs had very cheap latches that would not stand up to repeated opening and closing (especially from a child.) Try them.

Strength:

No or very little geometry problems, flat and square like a photo.

Weakness:

The red coloring is a bit on the strong side.

This is a great television, it doesn''t have all the problems of it''s counter parts such as Sony, Toshiba, Sharp, Panasonic, etc. they all have geometry problems, this one doesn''t. If you like your letterbox movies to be letterbox nice and square without curves, bows etc. get this tv. The only problems I have are when a dark seen appears the brightness flickers in and out, espcially noticeable on letterbox movies, any one know how to fix this? If someone can also send me the service menu factory defaults, you can get to it by pressing mute-1-8-2-power, so I can check them I''d appreciate it, my e-mail is samsung27f@hotmail.com, or point me to a website.

Strength:

Near perfect geometry, Good selection of inputs, 16x9 Mode

Weakness:

Physical size and weight. For a 27" TV, it''s rather large. Remote could be better, as could the on screen menus

A great TV at a great price! I had purchased a 27" Trinitron but I was unhappy with it''s lack of features and geometry problems. On the reccomendation of some on a home theater site, I decided to check this set out. I was an am very impressed with it. It has nearly perfect geometry unlike many of the competing Sony products, yet has similiar features and a better warranty. If you''re looking for a 27" TV(and want a flat screen set) this is the one to get. The only thing the Sony set has going for it is the Sony name and some very minor features(like Video input labelling). Definately check it out.

Strength:

Geometry,picture quality, sound and price

Weakness:

Perhaps slight convergence problem.

See my other posts on the Panasonic Tau and Sony KV27fS13. Well, I just got the Samsung, and you know what? I can''t see why anyone would buy the Sony. With Sound and Vision Home Theater Tune-up one discovers the following on the Samsung: 1) Horizontal lines are straight 2) Vertical lines are straight 3) Virtually no convergence problem 4) No pink bars anywhere on the screen 5) Horrific factory pre-sets that, when adjusted, produce a picture of indistinguishable quality from the Sony 6) Superior sound 7) A service menu that appears far, far more versital than Sony''s, although I have no idea what some of the items are (Service Manual on the way) So far, I''m thrilled, and the set is $100 cheaper. I heard about the Akai, but I prefer the service I will get from Tweeter to that I would not get from Sam''s. Bottom line: the KV-27FS13 is deeply flawed. Panasonic Tau is even worse. From what I saw at the stores, Toshiba''s geometry problems are severe. Samsung TXL2791F is a winner. Anyone with experience with the service menu, communication would be most welcome.
