Strength:
Great picture Easy interface/menu system Very easy to hook up
Weakness:
Remote doesn't work fully with my Zenith DVD player (it allows me to "Play" the DVD, but I'm unable to "Pause" it with this "universal" remote. The remote also only allows control for DVD player, VCR, and cable/satellite TV box. I'm not able to control my amplifier volume with the TV. Occasionally, when viewing digital stations, the TV decides it needs to shut itself off and then back on again. The entire process takes about 3 seconds, but it's a little strange. So far, it's happened to me about 5 times in three weeks, but it always seems to happen during a commercial. The digital audio out on the back of the TV works only when you're watching a digital station. When I'm watching the station in analog, the digital out is basically blank, but left and right channel output works fine. This might not be a problem for most, but my Sony amplifier is unable to determine which of the two signals, digital or left/right, has the correct audio. I have to make the switch myself. I was looking for a good TV with a built-in digital tuner and I stumbled across this offering. For the price, this TV is working out great for me. I'm just using the over-the-air digital signal present here in the Detroit, MI area. HDTV in general is very cool and this TV shows a great picture. DVD movies are also very good, and with this TV, I'm actually able to see the picture quality difference between an original DVD and a "backup" DVD. I have no complaints about image quality. This TV works great and seems very resistant to glare and other general irritants when watching TV. |
