Strength:
Terrific picture, lots of inputs...
Weakness:
As everybody mentions, this thing is HEAVY. I've lifted it once (when I got it), and don't care if I never lift it again! I got lucky with this tv. A neighbor was moving, and needed cash quick. I got this for $600.00 (including the matching stand). That was about eight months ago. I don't have any complaints, only praise. The picture is crystal clear. It has plenty of inputs. Just a really great tv. I highly recommend it. Similar Products Used: JVC 27", Pioneer 26"... |

Weakness:
Defective I have a white spot that appears on the t.v. quite often but intermittently. I was told that the only thing covered under the warranty were parts. This means that I'd have to pay labor and they would have to come to my home. What should I do? |

Strength:
The picture is flawless -- I have none of the problems reported by a handful here. As insurance, I did opt for CC's extended warranty -- in-home service for 3 years at $150 seemed worthwhile, given Sony's low manufacturing rating by Consumer Reports last year. That said, this is an excellent centerpiece to my home theatre system. Like everyone notes, the calibrations out of the box are weak and washed-out. I used the THX video calibrations available on the FIGHT CLUB DVD, and the results are amazing. Haven't splurged on an RGB cable yet for the DVD player, but using just an S-video cable, the picture is gorgeous, crisp, with great colors and nice contrast. Cable looks fine, too. Movies enjoyed thus far: THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE (a b/w flick that's excellent for seeing the strong blacks this tube can generate), THE ABYSS, THE IRON GIANT (my fave animated film looks incredible), FIGHT CLUB, and many others. The built-in 16:9 feature is a godsend if you want to see movies in their original aspect ratio. "Letterboxed" doesn't always means you're getting the full picture, and this is one of the least expensive sets to offer this. Sound is fine, but I pump mine through a slig
Weakness:
It's heavy heavy heavy -- close to 200 lbs. At first I wanted the 36" set, but after hauling this sucker home, I'm glad I chose it. Besides, with our couch only 8 feet from the TV, the larger set would've overpowered the room. The menu controls are a little confusing, and the manual won't help you much. Sony's manufacturing problems -- you can read more about them in reviews here. I'm not having any problem, but I sprang the extra bucks for an extended in-home service warranty. I got a nice stand built especially to hold this set -- it's pressed wood but seems sturdy and matches the set beautifully. Too bad it's priced at $200. This is a review for the new model, the Sony WEGA KV 32FS13. I have nothing but praise for this set (except that it's so darned heavy). I did a lot of shopping around and relied heavily on reviews I found at this website, and this set won hands down. Similar Products Used: Last set was a 1994 Sharp 25" TV. There's just no comparison. |

Strength:
Great Picture. Hands down the best when I compared them all the other options (Toshiba, other Sony Wegas, etc…).
Weakness:
Weight – I really think that it weights more than 165 – It really does feel a lot heavier! I spent months looking for a TV and did not take this purchase lightly. I compared every TV at about every dealer that you could think of. I looked online and went to stores to look at the picture and talked to all the salespeople. This TV was always the one recommended and I can see why! I have been using this TV for about a week (KV-32FS13 model) and it is amazing. I moved into an apartment and from where the television is located, you can pretty much look at it from all angles. Lets just say that I am really glad that I got the flat screen! It is extremely clear, especially when I am playing DVD’s through an S-Video connection. I never knew that a movie was really this clear. I was using a 32” Trinitron before and I thought that was a great TV, and it is, but the Wega is light years ahead. On a side not, I bought this TV online from thegoodguys.com (authorized retailer) and their customer service was great and there wasn’t any damage when it was delivered via freight shipping. I will admit that I was VERY worried until it showed up in pristine condition. I am not sure if I can really say more about this TV. I haven’t noticed the lines like some other posters have mentioned and the sound is decent (but going to run it all through the stereo, so I really don’t care). |

Strength:
Picture quality, flat screen, nice menu, sound is better than expected from stock speakers.
Weakness:
Weight (get delivery like i should have) Really great TV. Considered the XBRs but read an article in Consumer Reports to deter me away from HDTV. It won''t be the standard for like 5 years, and by then the prices on sets will come down a lot. Anyways, this set really impressed me. I spent about an hour in the store comparing flat screens and the Sony was definitely the best. I was worried there wouldn''t be enough inputs, but I have a VCR, DVD, and PS2 hooked up with the front input to spare, so it''s all good so far. Sound is much better than I expected, and the menu is really easy to use to customize your set. Overall, much happier than I expected to be considering the high (but affordable) cost. My only complaint is the weight. I had to lug this thing up 8 flights of stairs with one other person and I thought I was going to die. People say it''s around 165, but after one flight of stairs it feels like 2000. Similar Products Used: Sony 35" trinitron (about 8 years old and still running great) |

Strength:
Picture quality
Weakness:
Heavy as hell! The picture quality is great. DVDs look very clear and crisp. I like the different picture modes (Movie, Sports, etc). The Movie mode looks odd at first, but when watching a movie it looks much more like it would in a theater. I can't really explain why but it's just easier to look at. Strength:
Excellent picture quality, DVD is great, 16:9 enhanced mode, 4 video inputs, component video!, Setup is easy, remote isn't too complicated, One step under EDTV and HDTV. It looks awesome too. Not messy in front with buttons.
Weakness:
Very, Very, heavy. I don't recommend carrying it up stairs. The picture quality is superior. Best I have seen under Enhanced Definition and High Definition TVs. I have a good DVD player and it is great on 16:9 enhanced mode. The wega has component video inputs and picture quality is top-notch. If you have a DVD player, you will love it on the Wega with component video. It also has S-Video. There are 4 video inputs total. It has 2-speaker surround sound effects, and other sound enhancements for the 2 speakers on it. There are, I think 4 picture modes, movie, sports, vivid, standard. There are plenty of color controls. Setup is just an easy menu, that is quickly configured. The remote is easy, but not too dull. I don't like complicated Sony remotes. The unit is attractive looking too. I would recommend it over a Standard Definition Big Screen TV. Size doesn't always matter. The only TV I would buy over the Wega is HDTV. I would prefer the Wega over a 60 inch standard definition TV. Similar Products Used: other standard TVs |

Strength:
Great Picture, easy to operate
Weakness:
Could use at least one more s-video input, don't care much for the silver. I know that there are much larger TV's but in my small condo, this thing is a whopper. I haven't had any problems thus far. For movies, it is great. As I stated previously, a couple more S-video inputs would be nice. Fortunately, I have an AV reciever with video switching, but I would prefer to run the video directly to the TV. On my small salary, this was quite an invertment, but I am very happy with the set. When comparing with other 32" TV's, it was far superior, (aside from XBR) Similar Products Used: Sony 27" Trinitron |
