This Television is totally without a picture after less than three years. I have heard of other problems with this set but am unable to find recall information. Awfully expensive for two years worth of viewing.

Strength:

good picture clearity

Weakness:

HEAVY! My model doesn't have tilt correction feature!

I bought a Sony because I felt that they made great equipment. I also have a Sony receiver and CD player. Well, I must say that I am a little dissapointed with this TV. After a month I noticed that the picture is tilted! the higher end models have a tilt correction function on the menu but not mine! So I have to have a service technician come and fix it. He found that the picture yoke was not tightened correctly and had moved in shipping (he guessed). The picture is still not perfectly straight. Not to good for a $800 TV!

Strength:

Great picture clarity and pretty OK sound

Weakness:

Only one S-video input

Yes it is very heavy due to the front glass only being curved in one plane. This leads to very thick glass in order to get focusing and even coverage across the whole screen into the corners. Make no mistake a Sony TV will weigh like 25-50% more than any comparable set. More than most 60" projection sets. When I bought mine, the stock boy was pissed because he hates lifting Sony's!!! The moving guys said the same thing when I asked them to re-alling my entertainment center, they wanted to charge extra for 'heavy labor'.

Strength:

Excellent picture quality Deacent sound quality

Weakness:

HEAVY!!! Did I mention HEAVY??? only 1 S-vhs input

I have been using the Kv-32v40 Tv for the past 8 months and it has been trouble free..The imagis are sharp and crisp with no color bleed what so ever, colors are very bright and warm. The tv was a replacment for my 27 inch zenith hunk of garbage (I will never buy another Zenith product again ,and it was a toss up between the sony and a panasonic panaflat.I think I made 10 trips back and forth to the store to compare the 2 models (The salespeople at circutcity are great they even put each model i was considering on purchasing side by side for me to compare) after viewing the 2 models the Sony Won the picture quality is Absolutley Phenominal and has just the right amount of features I was looking for in a tv except an extra S-vhs Connector For the price 750.00 i could not pass it up...

Strength:

It's a SONY?? I hate to say it, but it is superior. Not sure if it's a good as the price difference to comparable unit.

Weakness:

Slite dot crawl at times... Not too many TV's have mastered that though.

TV works great. No problems... I look forward to completing my home theater system with it next month. Currently I have an Altec Lansing M/M Subwoofer connected to the variable output and the sound is wonderful (like it should).
** Would like to have seen composite inputs however. **

High End JVC unit was the closest compitition to it but the picture quality just wasn't there. When it comes down to it, you buy a TV for the picture quality and the SONY won hands down.

I really believe that Sony makes a great product. However, I have been slightly displeased with this TV. I had first purchased the KV- 27V40, which I loved but felt was just smaller than what I wanted. So, when this TV went on sale for $800 at Circuit City, I jumped on it (Crutchfield was still selling it for $999). Well, the TV was great for the first month or so, then I started noticing some malfunction after it had been on for a couple hours. Whenever there was solid black on the screen, as there often was with movies, the black would turn to bright red then back to black, flashing. I thought this was perhaps just cable. So, I hooked up a DVD player to it, same thing. In addition to this redness problem, the right side of the screen, when black was displayed, would be bright white (down the furthesmost right edge)then fade into the black. You could see the red green and blue color lines that make up the screen. I took all my speakers (which are video shielded) away from the TV in the hopes that it was just magnetic interference, with no luck. I then moved the tv to a different room, no luck.
So what did I do? Well it was after 30 days, so I couldn't return it. I decided to go buy another one and hook it up at home. This new one didn't have the redness problem, but does have a the bright edge problem even when hooked via s-video cable to a dvd. I've taken the new one back and now will probably just have to have the old one repaired under warranty. But you hate to pay almost a grand for something and have it be riddled with problems like this. Now I will be the proud owner of a $1000 tv that's been thumped around from the store, to home, back to the store, then to the repair place, back to the store, and back to my home... what kind of picture tube life can I expect now?

Sony, you make good products, but not this time.

Positive stuff: great menus, great sound, attractive look.

This TV might ba a little pricier than some other models of this size, but it more than makes up for it in clarity and quality. Just hooked my new DVD player up to it and am amazed with the precise picture.
My parents just bought a similar Phillips 32 inch. While it was about 150 less and it did come with PIP, my Sony is tons clearer.

But, one thing: Sony, can you make this TV just a little heavier? Could you put a little more weight in the front of it? I could almost get it up the stairs to my apartment.
