Strength:

Picture quality is awesome. I used the "video essentials" dvd for minor adjustments. Good remote as well.

Weakness:

Pretty basic menus

I've used this set in my home theater for several years now and have been very happy with it. The picture quality that you get from this set utilizing DSS and DVD's is impressive. In the 3 years I have owned this set I have never had any problems. Highly recommended!

Strength:

Picture, Controls, Features.

Weakness:

On Screen Display.

I love the setup of this TV. Extremely clear picture and flatter screen than most. The On-Timer function is not as nice as I've seen on JVC's. The audio outputs are not too flexible either. However, I am picky about features and I haven't seen a perfect TV yet. I got mine at cost for $792.00 to explain my value rating.

Strength:

Clear, well-defined picture, decent reproduction of
flesh tones, audio leveling feature.

Weakness:

Only one S-VHS input on rear of set, no component video
input, supplied "universal" remote does not control all the
commonly used functions on non-Sony VCRs & DVD players.

I purchased this Sony TV/Monitor in mid-February 2000 when
the power supply on my nine year old RCA Colortrak finally
died on me.
I really loved the RCA - it had wonderful color and
one of the last large USA-built CRTs on the market. But
as we all know, time and technology move on.
So after looking over the available TV/Monitors on the
market I chose the KV-32V65. It had a picture fairly close
to the WEGA line in quality (but not the flat screen), at
a considerably lower price point.
Tweaking the colors and contrast was a simple procedure.
As I own a video editing and duplication firm, I simply
brought home my scopes and a video signal generator, and
was done in minutes. Since my initial set-up, I've had no
reason to re-tweak the colors or contrast.
I do feel the lack of S-VHS jacks on the backside of
this set is a real drawback. I use a Panasonic S-VHS
VCR and a Sony DVD Player with S-VHS output; and finally
had to buy an outboard S-VHS switcher to get both signals
to the S-VHS jack.
One feature I do enjoy is the audio leveling feature
that tones down those overly loud commercials. The remote
control also seems to work well; but as stated above it
does not operate all the common features of some VCRs and
DVD players.
I have to admit that I've had no problems to speak
of since buying this set. All in all a solid performer.
My only real complaints are the remote and lack of S-VHS
jacks on the back of the set.
As Sony is moving over to flat WEGA-type TVs right
now, if you can get one of these models at a deep discount
go get one. Otherwise I would get one of the higher-end
WEGA models.

Strength:

Great picture

Weakness:

Doesn't take newer 480p from DVD players

The picture quality was the closest to a Wega at the time of purchase (Fall 98) when the Wegas just came out and were much more expensive. I find that w/ the newer digital cable/satellite links that the picture is very clear and crisp (same obviously w/ DVD). Very reliable and scored the highest on consumer reports/reviews. This is an ideal set for people who like good picture quality but aren't fanatical about home theatre. Great TV for those who aren't in front of their sets 24/7 - otherwise hit the bid and go Wega.

Strength:

Good value for the price.

Weakness:

Only one S-Video input in the back and no component input. Does not accept a 480p input from progressive scan DVD players.

I've had this TV for over a year, and it's price is still competitive with other Trinitron tube TVs with comb filter, etc. The screen menus are easy to navigate, although I've replaced the remote with my trusty Radio Shack 15-1994 remote (the best remote ever).

This set does lack input jacks. There's only one S-Video input, no composite video inputs, and does not accept 480p inputs. If you're a video enthusiast this set is not for you. This is not a big deal for me because the TV is over 2 years old afterall, and the picture quality is so much better than any other TV I've had.

Overall, good value for the money. See if you can pick one up at a garage sale when people start upgrading to the Wega!

Strength:

Good picture with excellent geometry, convergence, and purity.

Weakness:

The internal "srs" speakers sound horrible.

Good set for the "I can't afford a WEGA" crowd, good for small home theatre setup (as long as internal spkrs not used!) - great picture.

32S35, even though same pix tube, the V series seems to have a better comb filter and better ability to handle contrast without blooming
