Strength:

Great picture quality and build quality

Weakness:

no PIP and not a lot of inputs, only one S-video in

I needed something larger then the 27" in my living room so I looked around. In one store that deals with mostly mid to high end audio/video (No appliances, computers or video games) they had 8 35/6" TV playing the same DVD. The Sony shined over the others. In the I went for the entry level Sony 35 over a Toshiba 36" that was $100 less. I realy liked a digital Panasonic but it was too much, $1800 is I remember correctly. Overall I am very pleased with the picture quality and I have never had any audio plugged into it so I can't comment about sound quality.

Strength:

Good image quality, especially for a screen of this size. Good build quality, that's why it takes 2-3 men to move it. Good sound quality. Menu has a lot of options and is easy to use. Nearly flat screen. Nice looking.

Weakness:

Not enough inputs. Takes 2-3 men to move it.

I have had this television for about 3 1/2 years. It has never been a bit of trouble, except for actually moving it. That was a bugger! Since it is built so well, it is very heavy, at 180 pounds. But it feels more like 300, because it is difficult to hold on to. It takes 2-3 men to move it to a new house, etc.
The picture quality is good, especially for a screen this size. DVD movies look really good on this screen.
I think the speakers work well. I don't generally care for Sony speakers, but these are some of the better TV speakers I know of.
The menu has a lot of options, and is easy to use. On/off timer works well. Programs quickly, etc.
This is a nice looking unit - has a futuristic look about it, with the almost flat screen and sleek styling. But not flashy.
I have a home theater set-up, and I wish there were more inputs. There is the usual coax input, and two A/V inputs, but only one has S-video. My receiver can do the switching, but I would like to connect my LaserDisc player directly to the television. It is sufficient, but could be better. No component video input.
I enjoy having a large screen that is significantly clearer than those projection screens. I never thought there were very clear unless you were more than 20 feet away. This one covers a large part of my field of view, and is very clear. I don't mind watching letterboxed movies, because the picture is still as tall as a fullscreen movie on a 27" TV. :)
It works well, has stood the test of time (and mine was a floor demo), and is built well. Looks good, sounds good. But it could use more inputs.

Strength:

Excellent picture. Screen almost flat. Corner to corner
images are highly detailed. Many menu options. Remote is
easy to use. The S-video input coupled with DVD allows
easy high resolution viewing. I turn TV speakers off and
send fixed audio signal to AV receiver. Sound quality then
is high quality with decent soundstage iamging.

Weakness:

183# dry weight!! Very heavy to move around... Only 1 S-Video input.

Dollar for dollar- would be almost impossible to do better!
I purchased primarily for picture quality on reasonable
budget. Am thrilled with this unit.

Strength:

Picture Quality, Value

Weakness:

No PIP, 1 S-Video Input, Average Sound Quality

I purchased this set after looking for a while at some larger rear projection TV's and even some entry level HDTV's. I ended up purchasing this set to hold me over for a couple of years until HDTV is more mainstream. I decided if I was'nt going to get HDTV I wanted to keep my "tweener" set at under $1000. I looked at the Toshiba's and the upper end Sony WEGA's. I felt the picture quality and reliability of the Sony's was above the Toshiba's and I could not see that much better a picture on the WEGA to justify almost double the price. I considered the 32" WEGA for about $1200 but I ended up going with this set for the larger screen size and lower price. I have had the set for about four months and am very happy with the image quality. The sound quality is just average, however, since I run the audio through my stereo this was not a factor in my decision. I think this set is a great value for the price.

Strength:

Excellent picture quality (switch it to "vivid" and it really shines). Good speakers, excellent remote, very easy to use.

Weakness:

Goddamn, it weighs a lot....180 lbs.

This is a great TV, for me it has enough inputs and I paid a great price for it since since it was going to be discontinued for next years model. I have a Sony DVD player (530) hooked up as well as a Sony VCR (975) and the picture is excellent for both units. The speakers are good, very loud and clear, you can control treble and bass which is important for me. Very happy with it!
