great picture from the factory, even better after you calibrate it with your lighting. used video essentials to calibrate it and the picture is lifelike. compared to the regular triniton-S series, the trinitron-V series is far better in overal accuracy. this TV seems to have as good if not better picture than the XBR's, but Sony as well as all the better TV makers decided to market the XBR name more and the "flatscreen" models more. however, the Trinitron-V's have a prety flat screen, but Sony decided to make the front of the newer tv's more square just to make the screen appear "flatter." compare the KV-35V42 to any other TV especially in this price range and you'll do like I did and buy one.
