I got this TV from J&R for $1600. It came in a huge boxvand weighed a ton. Once we got it down to my basement i was ecstatic. The performance was great. DVD's look crystal clear with the component inputs. All other areas were exceptional too. The remote was well designed but i would have liked more "favorite channels." This was my only gripe and a minor one at that. I thoroughly reccomend this product.

This TV is great EXCEPT IT HAS ONE MAJOR FLAW!!! (At least in my house!!)
I have a band that sweeps from top to bottom at a frequency of about 1 per second. It is very noticeable on dark backgrounds and is a total pain in the ass!

I have taken the TV to sony and they could not recreate it, does anyone have any ideas? How do I determine if there is a problem with my wiring? I don't like a 250lb TV around troubleshooting! Any help would be appreciated.

Chris

I too have noticed the bands scrolling from top to bottom during dark passages. However, the picture is crystal clear when watching DVD's through component video or DSS through S video. The reds are saturated and at the same time, do not bleed. I'm using the medium setting instead of the NTSC standard setting cause I found the picture too red after calibration with a video essentials. Overall, I believe it's a great performer for the money. And it has a flat screen too!!

Strength:

The best screen money can buy in a flat crt display.

Weakness:

This thing is heavy.

We love the picture quality, no sweeping lines as in one review. The new Sega Dreamcast (Game Machine) with an S-Video input cable is an unbelievable thing to behold. Purchased from Cameraworld.com for $1384.00, great price, although had to help unload off the truck - no inside delivery, but saved about $250.00 in shipping charges compared to most other suppliers. Excellent “remote” works better than most. I also recommend the matching Sony base designed for this set, about $299.00, you’ll have a difficult time finding a better one for this behemoth. Overall highly recommended.
