Strength:

The neat little things built in you dont notice for a while

Weakness:

weight

This TV rocks. Its the best non-HDTV you can get. I got mine for a thousand cause working at best buy gets you some nice discounts and my manager gave me an extra 100 bux off cause there were no 32's (what my parents wanted)

The picture is amazing with monstesr s-video and component cables. Hook up a PS2 with monster and you're in the game. the menus and features on the TV are really easy to use and the remote works for a lot of different sony products.

One feature i noticed recently is this one thing the WEGA does when you hit the previos channel button. At least to the other TVs we own, but if you type in 63 on the keypad and go to the station and then surf your way down to oh say 45 and hit the previous channel button it takes you back to 63. There is a lot of little things that this TV does, and it puts every other tv in it's category and even higher ones to shame.

Strength:

It does EVERTHING top notch!Superior picture and sound.

Weakness:

The stand that comes with this set while on promotion(free)from SONY does not fit it as well as it should. They do have one that fits it better and I will upgrade it after I recover from the purchase. The remote does not work with my dish network satellite system,I find that odd.But SONY builds satellite boxes for direct tv,but they should at least offer a code anyway.

I won't know for years what the reliability comparison will be like but hopefully with SONY'S reputation that will be better as well. Out of the box the set was superior to ANY TV I've ever purchased. After three days of ownership I'm still fine tuning things but I'm almost there which is alot sooner than my normal weeks of minor adjustments.I'm very relieved that the picture and sound have exceeded my expectations in every way.I will add a SONY dvd player and home audio system in the near future right now I'm using my SONY VAIO laptop as my dvd player.Buy with confidence,my model is the KV-36FV26(has the wireless headphones)only because Howard's had confirmed delivery of my KV-36FV16 and then found out that all had been sold,so they upgraded to the FV26 at NO additional charge so I can whole heartedly rec them as well.

Strength:

Flat screen, anamorphic DVD support.

Weakness:

Damn is this thing heavy. Manual 16:9 switching.

I bought this TV for $1799 with free shipping from Crutchfield, and used the AMEX Blue card price matching to get a refund check for $250 from AMEX. Plus the MSN 20% Gift Certificate promotion got me a $360 gift certificate at Crutchfield which I used to get a Sony DB-940 receiver. Ya gotta shop around!

Anyway, I'm much happier with this TV than my old 27", but it kills me that I couldn't afford the XBR. Side by side... it's embarrasing. I find the manual 16:9 anamorphic support (as opposed to the KV-36FV26, which auto-detects it) kind of irritating, but not worth $100.

I've seen some wierd static in really bright red colors, and if I turn up the edge enhancement some text gets pretty garbled. I like being able to pick a white point, and I do like being able to change the edge enhancement depending on what I'm watching - CNN or South Park.

If I did it again, I'd probably have to look at some other TVs first.

Strength:

Picture Quality, component inputs, black level accuracy, I could go on....

Weakness:

Try to lift it yourself... it's weakness will be revealed. No auto 16:9 mode. Factory presets(like always)suck.

My girlfriend and I saw this monster in Tweeter, Philadelphia, PA. Since the cost was above what we intended to spend, I am not even going to bother comparing it to more expensive sets in its class(which there is only one or two more above it in the line), or the more expensive XBR selections. This set is probably selling for hundreds less right now. after using my THX setup disk (not included) this television blew me away. Saturation was excellent, level of detail and black level were superb. I even sprung for some Monster silver component video cables to hook up my DVD player to (SonyDVP7000) I don't care what you may have heard, component video is the way to go, especially with this set, S-video cable is a bare minimum. the component video cables give you an incredible if not marginal increase in color and shadow detail compared to S video. Jeez, you just spent 1600.00 on a set, get the damn component video cables already. DVDs looked excellent in 16:9 mode, which retains all of the resolution of the format, with a letterbox size picture. I would have liked to see an auto 16:9 feature on this set. It is mildly annoying to set it myself when i'm beginning to get into a film. Actually I don't have any major complaints with this TV. picture wise It is comparable with more expensive non-digital or non-HDTV sets out there. I am going to stick with my WEGA for a while until HDTV becomes more affordable. As incredible as a HDTV picture can be, this television is a very satisfying solution for right now. BUY IT!

Strength:

Great picture, different video settings, component connections. Actually reviewing KV-36FV26

Weakness:

Heavy,only 2 S-Video connections. Actually reviewing KV-36FV26

Actually reviewing KV-36FV26. The thing to remember with this tube is that it will really brings out the good and bad quality of cable tv. I have digital cable, and those channels whic are actually transmitted in digital signal look great the other ones it depends on the show.
DVDs look great, still not quite sure what the benefit of the 16:9 anamorphic setting is. If someone does, please drop me a line.

thanks

Strength:

flat screen, looks, sound (when used alone)

Weakness:

plastic covering cracks easily, price

i've been wanting to buy a wega for a long time...compare to the other flatscreen i've seen and demoed, this unit had the clearest picture (after 4 hours of tweaking), for me it all boils down to what i see in the tube, 3 inputs is good enough..i only wish that sony's should have made this unit lighter.
