Strength:
Good picture, sound was good if you sat directly in front of the tv and right inbetween the speakers--otherwise, you didn't even know it was in stereo. Enough hookups for today's peripherals to plug into. Plug for headphones which came in handy since I'm up all night and don't like disturbing everyone else.
Weakness:
Unconscionably short life for the price--4 years of less! I read the reviews and did the research when I was in the market for a new tv. This one seemed to fit what I needed--HD input cable line, plugs for headphone, output plugs for stereo, enough ports for DVD and video. Since my old tv was WAY old, I wasn't used to surround sound or spectacular picture. I was impressed with this Sony. However, only 4 years later and the thing is broken, channels are flipping around without stopping making viewing impossible, remote doesn't work probably because of whatever is making the channel flip. It's way too big to haul down to the repair shop. For the price, I expected a longer life since it only gets watched for a few hours late at night. Previous tvs I've owned lasted for 10+ years before they needed to be serviced. Unfortunately, I find with most of the Sony things I've have (digital cameras, DVD player, etc.) work fine for a yaer or 2 but then fall apart. Not a good track record and something we all need to take into consideration unless we are prepared to keep replacing major ticket items ever year. Strength:
~ Good picture, many adjustments. ~ Easy learning curve with the menus.
Weakness:
~ Too expensive. ~ Sound is average or below average for the asking price. ~ Front of cabinet looks too "busy", like Samsung's. Prefer asthetics of others such as Panasonic Tau, JVC l'Art, Zenith. My opinion on this KV24FV300 is the same as in my review of the '20FV300 - overall a better picture than their peers such as Panasonic, Toshiba, and JVC, but pricey, and the sound is nothing to write home about - certainly not worth the extra $50. over the price of their FS brothers. But I had to buy the FV series because the slightly narrower cabinet fits in tighter mounting positions. My advice is the Sony FS series are better values in the 20" and 24" sizes, as they are no different than the FV series except for the WoW/BBE sound, and the slightly wider cabinets.
