Strength:
Picture quality, flat screen, means you can sit and watch from most angles.Very easy to read owners manual.
Weakness:
Weight(if you are carrying this alone don't!, get a helper)A bit pricey for a 24 inch set. I ordered this set around Thanksgiving for a Christmas present for me and my wife. This set seems to be a hot seller for Sony, as I did not get it in my possession until after Christmas. My dealer from whom I have purchased lots and lots of equipment, could not(or would not)discount this set. I hate having to pay advertised prices for anything and always feel that electronics have a huge markup. Well people, this is a set where you will have to pay full price for unfortunately. That all said, the set is in my bedroom and looks fantastic!! I think Sony could have added 1 or 2 extra s-video connections, what could that cost on such an expensive set already? I have the set connected to my Sony DSS B-55 reciever and a JVC S3800r S-VHS vcr, this thing looks absolutely beautiful. So tell me how do I install my Toshiba DVD player into this system with only 1 s video input? I replaced a 19 inch Toshiba that gave me over 10 years of viewing pleasure with no problems until recently. I'm hoping that this Sony gives me the same amount of time if not more. Great Picture, Especially With DVD, Many Features For 24", Great Sound When Not In Simulated/SRS...We Get The Hum/Hiss, Great Picture, Sharp, Rich Colors. Price Dropped To $499.99
Weakness:
No Front S-Video, Some Sound Quirks In SRS/Simulated Modes, Steady Sound Doesn't Work, Heavy, A Little Expensive I Purchased This TV Over A Year Ago For A Family Member After Their Unreliable RCA Had Seen It's Day, And It's Still Going Strong. This Is An Impressive TV For It's Size But A Bit Heavy For A 24" Though...81 Pounds!!! Has Many Features, S-Video, SRS Surround Sound, Comb Filter, 20 Watts Stereo Amp/10W Per Channel. Although I Do Wish It Had A Front S-Video Input, Does Have Front A/V Inputs But Not For S-Video, Must Go Around The Back. A Few Other Competitors Offer Front S-Video. But The Headphone Jack Was A Very Nice/Welcomed Feature On The Front; Perfect For Not Disturbing Others For Night Listening. The Steady Sound Feature Didn't Work Though, In Order For The Volume To Stop Spiking From Channel To Channel, Commercial To Commercial, I Had To Turn The SRS Sound Off And Simply Leave It At Stereo Volume, Otherwise You Can Definitely Notice The Volume Increase. The Steady Sound Feature Did Nothing To Correct That, Not Sure If It's Defective But Simply Doesn't Work. Also There's An Annoying Hum/Hiss Coming From The Speakers When In SRS/Simulated Surround Mode. I Correct That By Just Leaving That Off, The Sound Is Still Good Without That Anyway. The Picture, Color & Sharpness Are Incredible With DVD, Nothing Like It, Very Rich, Deep Color And Very Sharp. With Cable Though You Have To Experiment With The Color & Picture Settings A Bit To Compensate For Lack Of Resolution, Not The TV's Fault At All, Comcast's. It Has 4 Settings For Picture, Vivid, Movie, Sports & Standard. I Think The Movie Setting Should Be Used At All Times! Vivid And Sport Settings Are Too Bright With Color Bleeding. Movie And Standard Are Good! It's Simple Enough To Use As Well. On Screen Menus Are Accessed By "Menu" Button On Remote Or Front Panel And Using The Right Or Left Buttons To Navigate Picture/Sound Adjustments. It's Truly A Very Good TV. I'd Definitely Recommend It Without Hesitation. I Purchased This From Outpost.com A Little Over A Year Ago For $549.95, A Bit Steep, But Back Then They Still Offered Free Overnight Shipping And No Tax So We Did Ok Overall. Strength:
Great picture, ok speakers for TV, nice flat screen, just looks sharp
Weakness:
Heavy, the annoying "pop" sound when TV starts up (although I have heard this on many SONY televisions that I have seen) The reason I went for this model was because CC was having this up for open box buy, and I dealt with the rep and got the price down to $380. I was ready to pay $400 at fry's for another open box set, so this was even better. The set is very heavy, I was afraid I might slip and drop it when I was carrying it upstairs, but I made it safely. The clarity of the picture is amazing once calibrated. And this has that 16x9 "squeeze" also that other sony tvs have. Just go into the service mode and do some "stuff." I usually don't bother with that because it takes so long to setup before watching movies, but there is a slight increase in picture quality, even on a small 24" screen. Strength:
GREAT Sound and picture!, Cool WEGA flat television., very nice design.
Weakness:
no component input, weight (80lbs), no component input!! I have to admit, the reason I bought this television was because I wanted something to use my Playstation 2 on. And I didn't just purchase this model because of the Sony name either- but really there wasn't anything out there that was in the same range as the KV24FV12 so I really had no choice-and I can tell you I am not dissapointed.
