Strength:
QUALITY!
Weakness:
Very heavy, and exspensive. But good quality does not come cheap! Only a one year factory warranty. More warranty is available for an extra cost. One word to describe this television. WOW! I did my homework before I purchased this unit. The picture quality is far superior than any of the others I looked at. When playing DVD''s you receive their full potential. Menu is very easy to use, You don''t require a degree from Nasa to use it. The remote control runs my dish that is not a Sony. Very happy with this purchase. Similar Products Used: 36 inch RCA |

Strength:
Unsurpassed picture quality, especially while viewing DVDs in 16:9 mode.
Weakness:
A very heavy unit. A vertical scan bar is seen while watching DVDs when my DSS receiver is on. I've read about this same problem from reviews on the KV-36FS12 which is essentially the same TV. I bought this TV because of all the good reviews I read and I wanted a TV that could rival an HDTV's picture quality without paying a hefty price. I have this TV connected to both my DVD player through component video cables and my SAT/DSS receiver connected via s-video. The video quality in comparison to my last TV (a 32" Sanyo) is unmatched. I could not find any flaw in watching a DVD, and the DSS signal through S-video is by far the best I've ever seen. If other people tell you that the signal is not good with cable, then maybe that's the problem. A Digital Satellite receiver paired with this TV is the way to go. Now I did run into one problem and that was when my DSS receiver is turned on and I'm watching a DVD, a vertical scan bar would go from right to left every 5-10 seconds. If you want to fix this problem just turn off your DSS receiver or read the review from Jason on the KV36FS12. He outlines what needs to be done in order to get your TV fixed under warranty. |

Strength:
Lots of cool features, componet hookups,16:9 dvd playback
Weakness:
Lines of resolution.Contrast. This set makes dvds look really good,in 16:9. The flat screen makes the set look bigger than 36 inches, no glare and games look really good on it too. But dvds and games only add up to about 20% of my veiwing time. VHS and cable are vary hard to watch, this set needs a good signal. The lines of resolution seem thicker and more spread apart, the only time I didnt see resolution lines was in 16:9 mode. The contrast on this set drove me nuts, I got the Avia set up disk, it helped the color but not the contrast...while watching dvds, a strange thing happens with the brightness the right side of the screen becomes lighter, this is very noticeable in dark scenes. The absence of depth on the screen was not a plus for me either. All of this may add up to personal prefrence, but for the money spent, I should be happy. I went through two of these sets in 3 months time, both having the same problems. I ended up with a Toshiba 36A41 and I am vary happy with it so far, lots of depth, great color, 850 lines of resoltion make for a great picture no matter what signal is running on it. Agian, this may be a personal prefence thing, flat screens may not be for me. But for the money you should be happy...............p.s. the rest of my system is Sony and it works fine. Strength:
Flat screen no glare picture. High resolution
Weakness:
Weight, but is well balanced front to back. Easy hookup of component parts. Instruction book actually makes sense. Easy on screen programing and adjustments. Factory settings were for the most part set to oversaturation levels but easily changed to fit my preference. In 16:9 movie mode scanning lines virtually disappear and pictures looks like a photograph. When you can see pimples and individual hairs on the actors its better resolution than at the theatre. Am happy with the overall quality. Similar Products Used: none |
