Strength:
Looks great even when its off, very sleek. Universal remote controls TV, cable box, DVD, and VCR. Ability to name channels. Two sets of AV inputs, component inputs, front jacks, audio out jacks.
Weakness:
No auto clock set. No auto close-captioning upon mute. Neither are big deficiencies in my book, but I really expected both in this price range. I bought this TV to replace a Sony 20" in my living room. The living room is small, 15x15, and a 20" was too small, but a 27" was too large. The 24" size is perfect for my application. I looked at the Philips and Sony 24" sets, but decided on Toshiba, for the most bang for the buck. The Toshiba was only $20 cheaper than the similar Sony model, but the deciding factor was the fact the Toshiba was somewhat narrower and shallower, which made it fit much better on my TV stand. Otherwise, it was a toss-up between Toshiba and Sony. I'm not the kind of guy that takes a lot of time comparing pictures side-by-side, but I knew Toshiba built a quality product, so I was comfortable with my decision. Frankly, I can't see any discernable difference in picture quality between the flat picture tubes and conventional tubes. Similar Products Used: Sony 20" |
