I did lots of research and thought I'd made a good purchase. Price was good for the features (comb filter, s-video, etc.). After 6 mo. I started getting red green and blue virtical bands bleeding thru the picture. I look at making color adjustments. No good. I'm taking it back to get another. hopefully this one will be better. |

Strength:
*Picture quality (when properly adjusted*) *Solid build quality *nice remote control *channel labeling is handy
Weakness:
no variable audio output (only has a fixed output) I don't know about the person who got defective set(s), but I got this about 3 months ago and absolutely LOVE IT. The picture quality is definitely better than any other tv you can buy for this price. Hook up a dvd-player or ps2 using the s-video or component video inputs, and you're in for quite a treat. Only caveat is that you might need to fiddle around with the color/brightness/contrast controls in order to get the optimal picture. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
Excellent picture quality for 6 hrs.
Weakness:
Poor poor poor construction and quality control. Toshiba needs to improve its quality control for this TV. The first one I bought had a discolored swath from the bottom center to the center of the screen (right out of the box). No unshielded speakers or anything else was next to it. I returned it and bought another one stupidly. The 2nd one looked great out of the box, but after about 6 hrs of use, a pop and fizz sound came from the back of the tube and the picture turned completely red with some horizontal pink lines. Six hours!! I bought this TV because of the rave reviews on this site (see the 27A40 reviews), but I ended up with two lemons. What are the chances of that? Save yourself the trouble of hauling this Toshiba back to the store, and start with a better built set. Similar Products Used: Sony Wega, older Toshiba 27". |
