Strength:
Component Inputs, Great Comb Filter, Adjustable Color Temp
Weakness:
Factory video settings absurd To look good, this TV must be properly calibrated using Video Essentials or the Avia DVD. I'll save you the $50. Similar Products Used: Phillips 27" |

Color Adjustments This set may be the most under rated 27inch set ever. Plain looking but outstanding performer. DVD-VCR-AND surround system great pictures and sound with this set. Have to play with the color settings a bit to get picture you like but don,t pass this one by if you,re looking for a great 27inch. Similar Products Used: JVC 27D201 27inch tv. |

None so far This review is for the 27A51 model, which I believe is the 2001 version. Before going out and buying a TV, I made sure to do some research. After consulting reviews in Consumer Reports as well as feedback from consumers on websites such as Audioreviewm, I narrowed my choices the Toshiba and a Sony, which were both highly rated. Ultimately, I decided to go with the Toshiba because I thought I would get more bang for my buck (For the same price, the Toshiba came with PIP). Strength:
Beautiful picture. All the inputs and great features. Remote is great.
Weakness:
Inonsistency in onscreen menu designs and remote design with other Toshiba products. This TV is great. It actually had component video at this affordable price. The features are very useful, especially the temperature controls. The Movie setting is incredible. Inputs galore on this TV, including S-Video, component, rf, and A couple of a/v inputs in back. I love the remote too. Toshiba hit paydirt with this TV, but now I'm looking for a VCR and DVD. I received a Toshiba VCR (600 series) for Xmas but its user friendliness sucks. Onscreen menus are TOTALLY differnt from the Toshiba TVs menus and the remote is twice as small and totally different and useless. You would think a company would try to have some consistency between its different home entertainment products (i.e. Sony). Not Toshiba I guess. The DVD remote is totally different as well, although they all control each other. I had wanted to have a complete Toshiba TV/VCR/DVD setup, but I believe I will go with Sony's VCR and a Sony DVD. You will not be displeased with the TV, however. I bought it for only $330 at Best Buy because it was an "Open-Box" item. Works flawlessly. Similar Products Used: Sony Triniton 32" |

Weakness:
none i bought this to replace the 13" Magnavox that was in my room, and it is great. it could just be what i'm comparing it to, but it seems a lot better than a lot of my friends' tvs. the picture is great, especially when watching dvds through the component inputs. there are lots of useful picture settins (warm/medium/cool & theater/normal/memory). the sound is good, though i usually listen to it through my receiver. it is rare to find a tv of this quality with this many features for such a good price. screen curvature great tv. after tuning the picture with the Avia Guide to Home Theater, the picture on this TV is great. Couldn't be much happier for the price, except if the screen were a little flatter. People sitting to the sides get a distorted view. but when its just me, its great. Strength:
Great picture, remote not fussy as to where its pointed, good reliability rating of Toshiba, 12/12 warranty
Weakness:
no front av input, remote somewhat poor design/cheap, long pause/screen blankout when changing channels I actually have the 27A60, but this model isn't listed here and it is similar to the 27A50 except for slightly higher resolution and dual receiver PIP. Similar Products Used: Panasonic 27D10 |

Great Picture, lots of great options, and COMPONENT INPUT!!!
Weakness:
None This television is a must for anyone who is on a tight budget, but wants an awesome tv! I compared this tv to the Panasonic CT-27D10 and this one won the battle. I have talked to many friends about these two televisions and everyone agreed that the Toshiba was the better pick out of the two. The Toshiba has a higher res picture along with a couple of other features that set it apart form the Panasonic. I just recently got a DVD player and wanted to be sure to hook it up to a good set up. With component cables this tv is killer! It also has 2 audio video ports along with an audio video output and S-Video! You have so many options with this tv it is mind-blowing! The remote that comes with this tv lights up when it is dark and is very easy to use. You can program your favorite channels, etc, etc. Also if you own any other toshiba products the Controller works with them too (Vcr, Cable Box). Similar Products Used: Panasonic CT-27D10 |
