Strength:

Good when it works.

Weakness:

2 tv''s in 3 weeks didn''t work. Terrible odds.

This TV review is actually about the 36AFX61. This tv is goog but I had to get rid of it. I had so many problems. I bought one and everything was very good. The dvd is amazing, X Box looked perfect and cable tv was alright. The only problem was one of the input jacks didn''t work at all. Future shop replaced it and the new one they gave me (same model) had a loud buzz when the tv was on. I left it for a couple of days but it won''t go away. Future shop is replacing this one but I decided I am through with Toshiba. I bought a Panasonic Tau. Hopefully I have ore luck with it. I would recommend this set if I had no problems. 2 out of 2 is very bad odds so I say forget Toshiba. They don''t specialize in Home entertainment as much as cameras and notebook computers so I guess its my falt. I would strongly recommend NOT buying this tv. At least with Sony or Panasonic you know there quality.

Strength:

Great picture, good sound, good features.

Weakness:

None so far.

This review is actually for the Toshiba 36AFX61, flat tube with 2-tuner PIP, 3D Y/C comb filter, and 33W sound.

I really like this TV. The picture is crisp and bright, with great contrast and deep blacks. The 36" flat screen looks very nice compared to the non-flat tubes out there. Digital cable channels look great. DVDs look even better. I run my Sony DVD player with component cables into the TV. The TV also has 2 S-video inputs. PIP is a nice feature, although it isn't very convenient with digital cable.

The backlit remote control is a good piece with a quality look and feel to it. I use it to control my TV, cable box, Sony DVD player, Sony VCR, and JVC receiver. It will control most of the necessary functions.

The sound system on the TV is really pretty good. If you don't have a surround sound system the speakers in the TV will probably keep you satisfied for some time. Speech is clear and the TV actually has pretty good bass (for a TV). The TV speakers can also be used as the center channel in your surround sound system.

I also purchased the factory stand for this TV. It's your basic particle board stand but it looks like part of the TV when assembled. It's worth it.

When I was shopping for this TV I also looked at the Toshiba 36AF61 and 36AF41. This TV looked just a little bit crisper than those. The picture also looked better in the stores than the Sony KV-36FS13 and 17.

Yes, these TVs are heavy. That's a given. Get over it :) Overall this is a very nice TV. It's certainly the nicest TV I've ever owned, but that isn't saying much. I'll be sure to update if it gives me any trouble.
