I bought this TV at a Wards outlet Mall. It had a cracked front speaker grill and cracked back side and one burnt pixal right in the middle of the screen. You can only see it when dusting. I paid $544.00 and wow what a picture! I used Video Essentials to calibrate it. It is part of my $5,000.00 home theater system. The color decoder is right on, and it has 150 lines more resolution then Sonys 35" TVs. Even at full price this is a great TV! I have installed one for a customer of mine and he loves it as well.

Can't turn off TV sound when using home theater speakers

I wanted a dependable, low-cost big-screen TV that will
hold me over until HDTV becomes affordable. With a budget
of $700, I originally focused on the Toshiba, Panasonic,
and JVC 32 inchers with PIP and component video, but
couldn't pass up a Fry's $697 special on this baby--I
figured a nice, big 36 inch S-video picture more than
made up for no PIP or component video, especially at this
price. The colors are vivid and crisp, the on-screen menu
is intuitive and easy-to-use, and the remote is just fine
with the basic functions for TV, VCR, and cable.

The only negative so far is that there doesn't appear to
be a way to turn off the TV sound when using home theater speakers. It's nothing major since I can just turn the TV
sound all the way down, but continually turning the sound
up and down can be a nuisance.

All in all, this model is a great performer for the money.
I give it a 5++ for value and a 5 (rounded up from 4.5)
overall.
