I bought the SL-9000 off of Ebay for $65 and I had it working all my devices except my Kenwood VR-209 DD receiver. I made a call to Universal Remotes and they told me to send it back for an upgrade. 2 weeks later I get it sent back overnight to me and it works GREAT. And at NO charge!! Well, I did Priority mail it to them. But for the $3.55 it cost to get it working everything, it was worth 10 times as much!! Who needs a Marantz that is big and bulky when this is such a bargain. My wife can even use it w/o asking were all the buttons would be. |

Just picked up this remote from jdelectronics.com for 100 bucks. Very easy to use, took me about 30 minutes to get all the codes programmed in and to get the macros set up. For those of you worried about not enough macros, I'm only using two of the four and thats plenty for me. For half the price of the RC2000, it's well worth it. It does all its advertised to do, and I'm now using one remote instead of six. |

Strength:
Great feel, Slim, Excelent Commands
Weakness:
Is not Upgradable, Cannot send high frequency signals to more advance remotes like the one that comes from the Sony TAE9000ES I would love to give this remote 5 but it needs some upgrade before that. I tried to replace it with my Sony remote which came with the TAE9000ES Pre-amp. I had problems with its learning capabilities and it just cant handle those higher frequencies. The remote looks and feels great. It does not kill the batteries and it is not a TV set like most other remotes. You dont need to hold it with two hands and there is no stupid touch display that cannot be seen under light conditions. If it only worked properly with my Sony I would have kept it. Maybe they will come out with a more advance remote. I am giving this remote 3 because it is very limited in what system you are using. |

Strength:
Simple to program and use. It controls all of the key aspects of my system. I tried cheaper remotes (Cinema 7 and Home Producer 8) but was never satisfied. The backlighting feature is of top importance to me. I like the "button" system as opposed to the touchpad approach.
Weakness:
None that I could see. I have already purchased 2 SL-9000s and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to spend $100 for a universal remote. It is easy to set up and to use on a daily basis. You could spend hundreds more...but why? Similar Products Used: I tried the Cinema 7 and Home Producer 8. The Cinema 7, although much cheaper, is not backlit. This simple missing feature was sufficient to kill the unit for me. The Home Producer 8 was cool looking but was too difficult to program. |

Strength:
Easy to program & use.
Weakness:
Can only program some functions for my Rotel tuner. For DVD player, buttons that could be used for navigating menus are used for transport controls. Bought mine at One Call and it greatly simplifies my life. It was very easy to set up. I have a 4DTV satellite receiver, and it organized the keys in a very logical fashion. I only wish they would have had separate transport keys instead of doubling up the menu keys. It does have a weird quirk when programming it using keys from another remote, it takes two attempts for each key before it accepts the entry. Also, I wish they would have left some keys blank, like surround effects keys that are logical only form one piece of equipment. Overall, though, if you have a reasonable memory, it is much perferable to having multiple remotes. I had no problem programming it for my 4DTV, my Classe SSP-25 preamp (had my doubts about that one), Mitsubishi TV, JVC VCR, Mitsubishi VCR, and Sony DVD. I had considered a Pronto, but felt I would prefer the tactile feedback and ease of programming of something like this--I wasn't disappointed. |

I love this remote! I previously was using a ProProducer-7 which functioned very well but was a bit confusing since I had to overlay existing buttons to perform different functions for different inputs. The SL-9000 definately costs more but it's unique features make it worth the difference. The backlit keypad is wonderful. The ability to remap any key via learning is very powerful. I haven't seen and battery problems yet. Mine is programed to control a Mitsubishi 35" with PIP, Toshiba 2108, JVC CD Player, Sony VCR, Toshiba VCR, and Scientific Atlantica Cable Box for Americast cable (includes on screen programming guide and one button record). Almost all of the functionality for these various devices was built in to the SL-9000 right out of the box. Advanced features such as on-screen VCR info were easily mapped via the remotes learning capability to the info button the SL-9000. |

Excellent remote. I have the B&K version of the remote. The remote is identical to the HomeTheaterMaster. Fabulous programming ability, and the finest backlighting I've seen in a remote to date! |

Does anyone have the final configuration for this remote to use with the Pioneer414 DVD, and DSP-A1 Amp? From the code-preprogramming, I only have one choice that works with my A1 and really don't like the way it lays out on this remote. |
