Don't waste your money on anything else. This is the one to get in any price range. If you buy a cheaper unit you'll end up buying the RC2000 Mk. II eventually, and if you buy a more expensive remote, you'll likely wish you choose the Marantz if you get a chance to try it. It just does everything right. Before the Mk. II I had to make seven button presses with five different remotes just to get a DVD up and running. Now I press one button. I can name dozens more examples, suffice it to say this is best remote available. Get it!

The Marantz RC2000 Mark II is a truly outstanding product. I've had mine for a week now and it does everything that you need it to do. It programs very easily and the macro functions allow you to perform multi-step complex tasks at the touch of a single button. I can't see how you could ever run out of memory with this unit as I did on my Yamaha RX-V995 remote. My setup consists of the Yamaha receiver, a Mitsubishi TV, a Sony VCR, a Toshiba DVD player, a Marantz CD player and a Pioneer LD player. I was able to program all the codes into the remote in about 90 minutes and it took about another 15 minutes to program the macros. I would estimate that I am utilizing less than 20% of the available memory in this unit. I have researched the touch screen remotes but you get no tactile response from a touchscreen and they always seem to look dirty to me. I tried the new HK remote which isn't nearly as good as this one and costs 50% more. This is the remote to buy.

I recently purchased a Marantz RC2000mkII remote control to round off my HT setup, and all I can say is that has been the best purchase I've made all year. Although a bit top-heavy and possessing a somewhat unintuitive button layout, this remote is hands down the most powerful tool of its kind that I have ever used. I would be lying if I said that I wasn't a bit intimidated by the prospect of programming it at first, but once I actually began to program it, I realized how simple and ingenious the process is. I quickly found myself actually enjoying the act of programming the remote, so much that since then I have reprogrammed certain functions, macros, etc. as new ideas have come to mind. Truly a great tool and a fun toy, it has earned a 4 star rating from me, losing a star due to its slightly cumbersome ergonomics.

I have recently purchached the Marantz RC-2000 mrk2 and it is probably the most important piece in my home theater. Previously, I was using a total of 8 remotes; jvc remote for my bedroom mini system, toshiba remote for my bedroom tv, another toshiba remote for the big screen, a jvc for the vcr, sony for the 200 disc cd player, pioneer for the dvd, and only a handfull of these possible functions was I able to program onto the dreaded denon 3200 remote. I was even able to program my hometheater light dimmer! The only problems I have had are the following; not able to program the power button for the cd player, but I fixed that by placing it in the LCD screen! the other minor problem I face every day is the position of the numbers (1 to 9). Because the remote is relatively larger and heavier than most remotes, you should be careful pressing these buttons with the same hand you're holding the rc200 with (you might drop it!) I paid 350$ + taxe and call me a nut, but I even went out and bought myself an oak jewel box and painted the marantz logo on it(it is placed on my subwoofer). I would suggest that if you have more than 3 remotes, save up and buy this product!

The Marantz RC2000II is a great remote. I have had mine for a month and I am very pleased with it. It controls all my equipment with out any complains. It is very easy to program. I programmed it to control all my equipments 20 minutes after I opened the box. I am very impressed with how easy it is to program and operate it.
I pay $175 plus tax from a local Marantz dealer. Mark, the owner of Audible Image allowed me to take the remote home for a week before paying for it. He asked me to pay him if I like the remote and bring it back if I don't like it.
I like it so much that I came back two days later and pay him for it. I was originally waiting for the HK TC1000, which I might still buy, but the RC1000II is great. I intend to use the RC2000II for my bedroom system and the TC1000 for my main room. But I want to wait until some of the bugs in the TC1000 have been rectified. If you want a great remote but don't want to waste too much time programming it, go find a Marantz RC2000II. That is the remote of the year.

Replaced 9 remotes. Very slick and well designed. Worth the price easily for complex systems.

I bought the remote a few weeks back and have only recently started to use it to more of its capacity. All I can say is, "Its about time" someone put out a unit like this.
It will replace every remote (except for NAD from what I have be reading) and in my case it was 5 and going on to 6 when I pick up a dish. At first I was thinking it was complicated but then I actually read the maunal and now it is a breeze to input names and for the learning part. If your amp has got lots of functions and DSP's, no problem. Beside 4 "pages" of 8 functions, you could alway use the AUX function for receiver or other equipment with many functions.

It has macros that can store up to 20 commands each. I haven't explored that yet but it looks easy. I only need a few setups anyway so again, no problemo.

I got it for $250 CDN$$ (about $160 US$$).

It is a bit heavy (look Ma, a 3/4 pounder) but I like the heft. It is top heavy and some of the buttons are hard to reach one handed but you get use to it. And from what I have been reading about the more expensive touch screen remotes (HK and Pronto), people seem to like the dedicated buttons. I sure do. For the money, I don't think there is a better remote. I dare say this remote would be useful for 75-80% of ALL systems out there. You maybe getting a few more memory bits from the other newer remotes but this is all most will need. It gets 5 out of 5.

I've had this remote for over 4 months (paid $209 including 2 day shipping). How did I ever manage before this remote????????????

This thing is fantastic.

It easily controls my

60 Inch Magnavox TV
Toshiba 3109 DVD
Technics SL-MC3 CD Player
Sony VCR (old model)
Onkyo Reciever 656 & Tape Deck
RCA DSS Reciever
18 Inch Room Fan (I bought the fan because it had a remote)

Yes it's top heavy.
Yes, you do replace batteries quite a bit.
BUY RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES!!!

This thing is awesome. No regrets. Buy it now. You'll be very glad you did.

thank you Marantz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only wish I could give it 6 stars

This baby got to be the best thing I've ever decided to own. I had the SL-9000 for about three weeks and had to exchange for this MKII. Thanks for this greatWebsite that helps me make my final decision. I did not want to spend too much money for a remote at first and that's why I got the SL-9000. After 3 weeks of playing with it, I got tired of those little buttons. I don't like those sticky labels that I had to put on it. I had to spend lots of time trying to figure out the best solution to program all of my DVD and my DSP-A1's functions onto this SL-9000 remote and then stick the labels on it. It did not work the way I want it. Guest what? this MKII solves all of my problem. It looks real good, I think. The thing I like the most out of this MKII is the eight DIRECT buttons which can be programmed and renamed to exactly match with the original remote functions (No sticky labels)and I can add up to 32 more functions for each of the device/equipment I own now and the future. This gotta be one of the future proof product. It's really worth to spend extra $100 over the SL-9000 and for people who like real buttons remote and willing to pay $200, THIS IS IT. Go check it out and own one, you'll glad you did and this is your last REMOTE ever.

I've tried and discarded other universal remotes. This is the first one that really does replace all my others. My coffee table now has an additional 2 square feet of space.
