Weakness:

Everything

I live in India and bought a Home theater package from egghead. As by the time the unit was brought over to India,
the 30 day waranty was over and got a shock of my life when it got connected. There is hardly any power and I had to go all the way up to get decent listening volume.
On my Sony prologic receiver, I never go beyong 40% and is much louder with a 240 RMS against 600 of this.

Further the subwoofer does not work when listening in the stereo mode and only works in the prologic.

I contacted egghead and they said that the warranty period is over. They dont even say from where to get service from.
Well it looks like waste of 500 bucks and never ever buy anything from egghead or Aiwa.

Strength:

600 watt monster, large heat sink, dolby digital/pro logic, BBE system, Super T-bass, DSP/Eq, and 3 digital ins! Dim mode, great fm tuner, and says good bye when u turn it off!

Weakness:

The body frame is constructed out of a low quality alloy, but the face is pretty good. You only get a small amout of DSPs and no 96khz DD decoding. No DTS either. No S-video in/out. No BBE during Dolby. Clunky remote. No banana speaker plugs.

Man, this is absolutely the best value reciever ever. The fact is that you get dolby digital reciever at 120 watts per channel, at only 300 bucks. It may not produce sounds under 40 hz, or 96 khz digital decoding, it still packs a wallop. An entry level DD reciever: a great worth for its price.

none really, except a YAMAHA DSP A-1000 which blows it away.

Strength:

The receiver has a flashy look to it, with tons of features.

Weakness:

It's strength IS it's weakness. Too many features concentraited on instead of concentraiting on the overall quality of the receiver. When switching from Tuner to DVD (or anything else that goes from Digital to Analog), the tuner stays in one mode. Making it so you have to switch the modes constantly.

Overall, for a cheap receiver, it is a decent peice of equipment for those of you who are looking to start a system off of your weekly allowance. Otherwise, I would suggest something from Onkyo or Pioneer. I am waiting until September then i am junking my Aiwa and buying the Onkyo TX-DS747. Oh yeah, fully equipped with THX and the rest of the stuff that the Aiwa users are missing out on.

Similar Products Used:

Onkyo TS-DX575 (at friend's house) and just about every other receiver out there since I'm a sales conselor at Circuit City.

Strength:

Many options, and cheap dolby digital.

Weakness:

Digital in works when it feels like it.

It is a powerful reciever with many useful features. i am upset that after less than a year, the dolby digital input seemed to give me trouble. With the warranty outdated, I decided to open 'er up myself and look at her insides. When I flicked the circuitboard with the digital inputs, the digital in light would flicker or just go off. The problem still persists. If anyone has any ideas of how to remedy my problem, I would be very thankful to hear them. Sometimes the digital in works, sometimes it doesn't. The regular analog connection always works fine.
Overall good reviever as long as it gives you no problems.
