Strength:
Clean smooth Sound, Awsome DACs, Great features!
Weakness:
Rear speaker connectors are not five way binding post. Remote has no Macro function. I am so impressed with this receiver! It reminds me alot of how my Denon AVR-3300 sounds. The only differance is it's a little less quite and not as much muscle. Of course it does not have all the features the Denon AVR-3300 has but it has all I need for my Guys room. Two Channel Music listening is wonderful and 5 channel stereo is also a winner, I blame this on the Awesome DACs. Movies in D.D. and DTS is were this receiver shines. It has a kick but Processor. The remote is fine but should include Macro function. I use my Denon AVR-3300s remote for the Denon AVR-1601 because I use a Philips Pronto with the Denon AVR-3300. The sales man said it has the same power ratings of old Denon AVR-1600 the new Denon AVR-1601 has a bigger power supply and ways alot more. S-video switching and DTS is also new from last year. I tell you folks I would put this Denon AVR-1601 up agains any of those $500 Circuit City receivers. Hell I bought my Dad one as well. This is the best $350 I have ever spent! Strength:
Clean sound and power at this price point. Tone Defeat is another plus. DTS
Weakness:
Can't complain for this price. Of course the 4800 sounds better, but its also another $1200. For the price its sounds great. Plenty of digital inputs. Love that tone defeat feature. This product melds well with the DCM-370 CD Player (use the CDs DACS), and great for a 2nd system or for a frugal small Home Theater set up. Similar Products Used: Denon 5700, Nakamichi |

Strength:
auto locking feature works every time, 60 watts is probably a conservative figure, sounds great with music and movies
Weakness:
remote controls cannot be considered weaknesses. Get a universal remote if you don't like it. This receiver has everything going for it. You get the feel that's it going to be a solid performer. Of course you can pay more for extra bells and whistles, but this receiver has all I need. Dolby Digital and DTS decoding sound great. Bass management works flawlessly. Good quality DACS make CDs sound like you are using a high end player. 5 channel stereo sounds awesome. And don't forget the 6 channel external input for future upgrades. If you're thinking about getting into HT for the first time consider this receiver as your stepping stone, you won't be disappointed. Similar Products Used: first A/V receiver |

Hey Chris Lee, I don't see how you can dog the receiver because of it's limited wattage. 60 watts sounds like the power of Sony's 100. You knew what you were getting when you bought it. Nobody else here has whined about the wattage. My listening room is nearly 700 feet, which is fairly large, I don't have any problem filling up the room. |

Strength:
clean sounds and looks, good value
Weakness:
@#*%remote control Besides the remote control, which is clutter and hard to program with the factory presets, this is a very good avr for the price. Good, clean sounds, with easy to program surrounds. I bought this to use in the bedroom, and it's more than adequate. For my HT, I have the Denon avr 5800. Strength:
High current amp delivers a lot of power, more than enough for a small apartment, easy to set up using manual, which is concise and short, not too many lights on front panel, so it doesn;t distract, very light weight
Weakness:
remote is way too small and the colour scheme on the remote is a little tricky, the volume controls and the input/surrode mode controls are the same colour and in opposite diagonal corners, which can be easily mixed up, good use more optical inputs (1) Overall I am very happy with this amp. It is easy to use and delivers a lot of power which makes for a very enjoyable movie experience Similar Products Used: Sony GX909ES |

Strength:
Good looks and good HT ability.
Weakness:
Poor music quality/reproduction. Reason for going for Denon was that my Yamaha did not have DTS. I must say, for music listening the Yamaha was a clean 10/10 where as the Denon is a shoddy 6/10. Similar Products Used: Yamaha DSP-A595 |
