I dont think putting the SW level at -12 does anything becouse i tried it and it didnt do anything. It might be my speakers i have mini-monitors. |

For those who have bass problem, try set your front speaker to LARGE and turn the SUB off. This will probably give your L/R speaker more bass. |

I made side by side comparison between the Denon AVR2400 and the Yamaha 793. To my surprise, the difference is quite obvious. Denon produces bright clean |

For those who think the reciever doesn't have a good bass level, then I got a question for you: Do you own a subwoofer? if not, did you bring the subwoofer level down to -12? What's the frequency response of your speakers? Denon recievers are factory designed to work with a subwoofer, so if you don't own one, you should take the sw level to the bottom so that it enhances the bass in the speakers. Try that. |

The Denon hometheater line of receivers in this price range is far superior to it competition(ie Yamaha, Onkyo, HK, Marantz). The 2400 is a great receiver forthe price. I'm considering upgrading to the new 2700 coming out this month, which has a built in Dolby Digital Decoder. If you want a smooth, natural sounding solid HT receiver go with the Denon 2400. |

Saludos!!!!! About the bass problem (not the ale wich by the way its very good) I recently read the review on Home Theater mag about the 1400, wich is very similar to the 2400 you're right (off course you own it ) it doesn't have that feature the sub output its just that an output. So turning the sub level down if you don't have a sub won't do anything. If you do I recomend using the internal crossover on the sub that way you get a better integration of both and at the same time taking some load off your 2400 so it can play louder and more dinamically. Hope that helpede. ADIOS AMIGOS!!! Miguel |

I bought this unit before 97' Christmast and I am considering an update to may be a Denon AVR5600. The unit sounds fine in movies in general but musically it sounds a little bright (the brightness could come from the cd player or the NHT speakers too in which I have not yet been able to pinpoint). The rest of my system consists of the Denon 1015 CD player, NHT VT-2/VS2A/HDP2 and Energy ES12 sub for the complete surround sound system and I'm using Kimber PBJ for interconnect and Monster Z-series for speaker cable. |

i was wrong about the bass. For those of you who want thx like head shaking bass, then get a subwoofer, they are built for that. |

ok guys, I think i solved the bass problem. In think the avr2400 has a built in crossover of 80hz (which by the way is a THX standard) which means the rest of your bass goes to the SW. I guess buying 28hz speakers wasnt such a smart idea, because the setting cannot be changed. For those who dont believe me test Independence day or event horizon´s explotions with and without subwoofer on this reciever. |

I don't think it does anything by setting SW to -12dB either. I have a set ofSoundDynamics speakers, with Sound Dynamics 300ti in the front. |
