Hola Amigos!!!! I have to say that even though I own the Denon 3200 and very happy with it, I have heard the 2400 and even recomended to my cousin who after listening to others in the same price range ( H/K, Yamaha, Marantz, even Sony) decided for the Denon one of the reasons ofcourse was upgradability ( also mine in my selection of the 3200) but the other and most important was sound. you could even by-pass all ciruitry by conecting the CD player to the 6 chanel imput it sounds great!!! The amp section is untouchable at the price. You could add Denon's new DVD player with built in decoder, although a little expensive its a reference piece with DTS capability (again future proof, wich is more than I can say for my Sony DVD) or to stay in the lower range Technics has its decoder WITH DTS and DOLBY DIGITAL at around $400 its a steal. The bass problem I've read about it but haven't HEARD it in any of the Denons I've listened to. Maybe its the speakers??? Since we can't always Know how a product is reviewed all I can tell you is that turning the sub level down wont do ANYTHING if you already had the SPEAKER configuration to LARGE for front speakers. Although I recomend this option only if you don't have a subwoofer, since using the intenal crossover set to 80hz will make a better integration of your sub and speakers plus it will help the amp drive with an easier load, making it sound cleaner at higher lavels. Gracias!!! Congratulations on a grat reciever.

Bought the AVR-2400 a couple of weeks ago and can't stop listening to it. I was looking an amp or reciever primarly for music with home theatre as a secondary consideration. From my research it came clear that a reciever without AC-3 was the way to go as companies cheapened the output amplifiers to compensate for the digital processing electronics and since I don't have a DVD player, I didn't need AC-3. The 2400 was the perfect choice as is sounded better than most amps and has 6-channel external input so I can add a digital decoder in the future, plus I got it for $400 US. In my system I'm using Mirage FRX-seven floor speakers as my mains, with the matching FRX-centre, and my old Boston A60s as the surround speakers. With the floor speakers I get lots of bass (that's why I choose them) without resorting to a subwoofer. Thanks for Dennon making a great receiver. Cheers.

Sounds very good on everything I play. If you don't own or even plan on owning a subwoofer, then don't buy it. Get on of the recent models or one with large/small speaker feature or another brand. If you do own a sub, then do not pay more than $400 for this receiver. Remote is okay and has a flap that covers keys that are not frequently used, so now I have a place to put my greasy thumb during the superbowl. I know some people think of the 5 -channel stereo as being a gimmic, but it is a gimmic that I enjoy (at low volumes). Even though I would not normally give a receiver in this class a five, I will since I know it'll piss some of you off. If you are concerned about comparing the quality of products, audition them. Your own ears are the best judges of what you consider "quality sound".

The Denon AVR 2400 is an excellent piece of equipment. I matched this receiver with the Denon AVD-2000 Dolby Digital Decoder and Sony CA8ES Reference CD changer and the combination proven to be my best home theater setup. For merely $500, the Denon AVR 2400 outperforms competition such as Yamaha, Harman/Kardon and Onkyo.(I have these receivers) Operations with the receiver is relatively easy to set up, though I found the remote and GUI interface a bit confusing sometimes, neverthless my Universal remote control takes care of all that. Denon AVR-2400 produce music with clarity and accuracy and full impact with home theater performance. Denon is known for its clean reproduction of high and mid range frequencies but not known for its bass, but a good powered subwoofer will take care of that problem. I set my Denon's treble and bass right at flat to prevent any uneccessary strain on the Denon. In my opinion, a good receiver sounds the best when the settings are at flat. I matched the Denon with MB Quart tower speakers and the performance is simply outstanding. I also have the Acoustic Research S12 HO 140 Watt Powered subwoofer connected to the Denon and the bass is just punchy, tight and explosive. The Denon AVR2400 is definitely a solid receiver for it's price.

I bought this thing 4 months ago for like $300 refurbished through Spidergear.com and was pleased with it's musical performance. However, I did find myself constantly fine tuning the channel levels when listening to DVD's.A month ago I bit the bullet and bought the Technics DolbY Digital Decoder with DTS. WOOOOOW!!! This system, through my B&W speakers rivals any home theater I have heard. Do yourself a favor and get this receiver with the intention of upgrading to dolby digital. You won't be sorry.

I've had this receiver for about a year and a half now. In terms of flexibility, it's really good. Dolby Digital Ready, many audio and video outputs, plenty of surround modes, bi-wire...Sounds good for mids and highs, but low end could use some work. Ergonmics on the remote aren't very good.

what model should I buy! one star.I usually stay out of giving opinions on consumer electronics since everyone
hearing and opinions vary. I however will give comment that this DENON AVR 2400 coupled with the AVD 2000 cranks for the bucks.
I Have replaced my multi amp/eq/range expander no room to move system. with what appeared to be a small, high current av amp, Lets just say at thirty eight I still can air guitar and I am going to be a juke box hero. Thats is if my wife will stop telling me to turn it down.

Overall coupled with my infinity overture 2(front), infinity crecendo c3007 (rear)Nec powered sub. and Infinity center. I have no base problem. mid are descreate and highs are sweet. remote is not as programable but will replace it soon. The price on this amp, coupled with early responses promted me to get this model.remote lags a little deffinate 4 star give it 5 for the single star ranger before me
