I really love this receiver. A product extremely musical. I use it at 90% in stereo or direct with the subwoofer, with which the AVR 3300 pilot a fantastic low.

I bought this receiver brand new in April of 2000 for $900.00 , the dealer is a friend of mine and cut me a deal , especially since I bought a Klipsch Subwoofer and center channel at the same time. I asked Scott ( The music shop Grants Pass Oregon ) what would be the BEST receivwer that would give me a home theatre experience and also perform well for music listening. he didn't hesitate and showed me the denon AVR 3300. This receiver won Amplifier of the year in 2000 from Home theatre review and I can clearly see why. Excellent performance and is going strong for 15 years now. It looks brand new and performs like the day I bought it. I'm running Klipsch KG 4 Loudspeakers with a Klipsch synergy series center channel and a Klipsch KSW 12 Subwoofer and a pair of BMW monitor series for rears. The sound is amazing whether I'm watching a movie in DTS or Dolby Digital or listening to music on my Denon DCM 360 CD changer. I love this receiver and hope it continues to be with me another 15 years. BTW: The key to a electronic unit like this to last a long time is to keep it ventilated well and keep dust from getting into the unit. thanks for reading. |

Strength:
Clean power, clear sound, great power.
Weakness:
manual is useless, remote is ok, hard to get a sound out of it if you don't know how to set it. Non bi-wireable. I used this for my Kinima Hi-G2 and now my Tannoy S8 and seems to work really well. Used for HT and stereo music and works really well. However, they don't have bi-wire ready output. 5 Ch sounds great. Similar Products Used: Denon AVR-85, Philips 900 series, JVC RX-770 |

Strength:
easy to use, and powerful. Cosmetically appealing, user friendly remote, ballzy and full soundstage.
Weakness:
doesnt get me a coke when I ask it to. I really cant think of any weaknesses that apply, sorry. I drive the unit hard, when needed and I did have it shut off a couple of times, mostly due to the confines of the audio rack I believe, for when I relocated the unit to a better venilated area, it performs effortlessly. Lots of flexibilty with this unit, having preouts for everychannel. Not to mention each channel is able to be adjusted independantly. Similar Products Used: Used some B&K products, listend to some NAD. Pretty much kept with the Denon brand for it has never, ever, not once let me down. I have poweramps, intergrated amps, preamps, all Denon.. Never had a problem with anything that was denon, save a DVD-800 series that I swear was made by panasonic, that crapped out after 4 years of use. |

Strength:
Great sound, though I'm not an audiophile.
Weakness:
Broke 3 times, terrible remote, confusing user manual. Was great when it worked, but had to have it serviced twice, and now it's on the blink again. Will only work in stereo CD mode now, same problem as before -- some problem with the microprocessor apparently. I bought an extended guaranty that included getting a loaner receiver, so it wasn't overly inconvenient, but I don't want to go through it again. I put it through a lot of use, sometimes all day, but is a receiver only supposed to last 4 years? In reading the board, I see others have had similar problems, and I would be most hesitant to buy from Denon again for fear of getting another lemon. |

Strength:
Excellent big sound from a small watt reciever in a very large room. Nice remote / on screen menues. Great value.Compared to similar products of the same power rating , is no comparison.
Weakness:
Very small volume display!!! Should have vol display show up on the tv when operated. Denov AVR 3300. I have owned this reciever for over three years. I am running it through a complete Def Tech speaker system and a Toshiba DVD 5 disk. LARGE family/home theater room. Denon has always been known for good clean power, at 105 watts this reciever puts out. Excellent Dolby Digital / DTS playback. Good flexibility in the DPS modes easy to use on screen menues. Sound is clean and good, decent full range to incredible volumes with little compresion or distortion, takes a while to make it clip at high vol. I do feel the Def Techs would sonicaly bennefit from more power (dugh),although very happy with overall sound and product.Full funtion easy to use remote, easy to follow owners manual. Anyone intrested in a low to mid priced reciever should definetly give the Denon line a good listen. You might not have to spend as much money as you thought. Strength:
Punchy but not too boomy. The extra power (107 watts) sound awsome.
Weakness:
A tad bit of brightness This reciever is great for the money. It plays great with my def techs BP2006. There is only a tad bit of brightness when I play stereo. I still dont know if that is really the reciever or the speakers. It is most definatly one of the best recivers in its price range. *My system* Front speakers:Definitive Technology BP2006TL Center speaker:Def tech CLR2300 Back:Def tech BP2X Sub:Velodyne FSR-15 Similar Products Used: Yamaha RXV-800, and other Denon products in its price range |

Impressive when it works
Weakness:
Don't purchase through the internet. I think this is a terrible unit. I have always liked Denon products, but this one is a terrible exception. It may be due to purchasing it through ubid, but I have had problems with it from the start -- including that it now only plays in Stereo only -- no dolby, 5 channel stereo or anything, plus the digital inputs have gone bad, plus the television input now does not work. About six months into the purchase some of the problems began intermittently, but now its full time problems. As stated before, maybe the problem was purchasing it through the internet ... a mistake that I will not do again ... hello Tweeter for a new model (plus five year warranty). It's an expensive mistake to make (for my budget), but at least I've learned from the error. |

Strength:
Excellent audio quality (both stereo and multichannel) for the price range, enough inputs to satisfy the most demanding.
Weakness:
Substandard original fan. No digital output. This a/v receiver was without a doubt the best sounding in its price range when I bought it. I've been very happy with it ever since for its natural and powerful sound. The remote is not very good and to change any settings you really have to use the on screen display. The later models have added DD ES, Dolby Pro Logic II and such but if you don't need those, the AVR-3300 could be a real bargain when bought used. The only problems with my unit were right at the start: The first unit's DSP card was flawed and gave up when the unit was only a week old. The replacement unit's fan was very noisy after half a year of use. After that was replaced, there hasn't been any problems at all. I have never heard the new fan nor have I had any overheating problems. Minor quality and usability problems aside, the Denon AVR-3300 is really a listener's amp. The sound quality is very pleasing and the unit has power to fill a larger room without trouble. A very good choice even for the listener who primarily uses the amp for listening to (stereo) cds, and only secondarily for home theatre. Works vice versa, too.
