Damn what a great product, I give my back a rest at the moment, because it is a heavy thing. The sound is very clear and tight. |

Strength:
Great DAC's, very powerfull, THX-EX and great upgrade posibility
Weakness:
Ugly remote controll and need's a extra 2ch amp for THX-EX Very clear sound, much better than H/K AVR7000 and Yamaha DSP-A1. Big upgrade from my old Onkyo Tx535 Dolby pro Logic Receiver. Similar Products Used: Onkyo tx 535, H/K AVR 7000, Yamaha DSP-A1 |

Strength:
Vivid, dynamic, tonal contrast, with warmth and armonics richness.
Weakness:
The remote control, but exist the ATKIS!!! this wonderful "stuff", is the best in this price range and below and in some cases for highers, only the Marantz SR-14EX ($3,000), THE B&K AVR-307($3100) and the DENON AVR-5800 ($3,100) to offer especifics improvements in some areas but the price is of the twice as much, for the most of the people this "good digital" is perfect, but if you are a perfectionist pure audiophile and with a FAT accont bank, you can buy a expensive dream system, and only to obtain 2-3% more music or overall performance, but 600% more money, with a KRELL, ADA (proccesors only) and pay $4,000 for this and other $4,000 for the amplifier like Cinenova Grande of Earthquake, but the you will understand that you pay too much money, for 2-3% more, and you are not even 10% more happy of what you are were with the Denon 4800, and only you paid 1,380, with THX ULTRA POST-PROCCESING EX, AND Similar Products Used: DENON TXD-S575 |

Strength:
Everything and anything. Lots of power, transparency, clarity, setup and options.
Weakness:
The blasted remote. While it isn't bad, for this type of receiver, something less confusing and more ergonomically appealing would have been nice. I bought this unit from crazyeddies.com. Arrived in perfect condition. Tried to lift it up, almost got a hernia. The receiver is _heavy_ and beefy. You can almost feel the transformers pull down on your intestines as you lift. Be careful. The look is solid and attractive, minus the one trillion digital displays and obscene front plates other low end japanese receivers are famous for. I use this receiver with two Acoustat electrostatic Spectra II speakers, a b&w cc3 center channel, 2 b&w 302's as my rear surround and a velodyne ct-150 as my subwoofer. Setup is a breeze and there are plenty of inputs and outputs for just about any digital format you might like. Since I don't have extra speakers, haven't done the THX thing just yet (i.e. im broke). Strength:
Features, build quality, dynamics, sound
Weakness:
none I replaced my Denon AVC 3030 (in fact I'm using it for the back surrounds now) with the AVR 4800. The sound quality is like night and day. I feel like I have new speakers now. The bass from my subwoofer is much more powerful and the dynamics from the main speakers are exceptional. I don't know if it is because I went from just having Dolby Pro Logic to Dolby Digital and DTS, but movies just seem to have come alive. I would highly recommned this receiver to anyone looking to set up a high quality surround system without breaking the bank. Similar Products Used: Denon AVC 3030 |
