Strength:
great warm sound. pretty accurate reproduction.
Weakness:
speaker input area is cramped. sometimes clips this receiver sounds great with my psb alphas and a sony sawm40 sub. it kicks the hell out of my other onkyo receiver. i bought the onkyo to replace the hk because it had more power( 70wpc to the hk 35wpc) but the onkyo is way too bright. i get fatigued listening to it after a few minutes. the onkyo also emits a buzzing sound when its awaiting a signal. anyway im looking to upgrade to a dd model. this unit is very sturdy , ive had it for 3 years with no problems. im sticking to hk products Similar Products Used: onkyo prologic receiver. sony minisystem. |

My father is a concert cellist when I went out to buy an amp he decided for me that he like the warm sound of tube amplifiers as opposed to the sound of solid state. Unfortunately there arent many tube amps around for $300 but there is the next best thing the AVR 10. After listening to the amp with lots of different speakers by JBL and infinity I decided to buy the AVR 10 because the difference between a sony and a harman kardon is so distinct even I could hear the difference beween the tones in the music and sound efects. The AVR 10 has a simple lay out and is easy to use all controlls as can be expected from any Harman kardon product, are clearly labled in gold and the sound is brilliant. The feature list is rather short for the price but the sound makes up for it. I believe that the THD is arround .009% as opposed to .09 of a simmilarly priced sony or kenwood. |

I got this receiver a few weeks ago, and I must say that it has impressed me. Although it is not a super-receiver like the AVR 65 and such receivers, it does serve the purpose of providing clean 2-channel stereo, and Pro-logic surround sound. I also got a H/K FL 8300 from onecall.com for $177 shipped. These two pieces of equipment are more than adequete for me right now. I would recommend both of these units to any entry level audio enthusiast. |

I just picked the AVR10 ($70) and the FL8300 ($98) from uBid for my parents and must say that I am so impressed with these H/K products that I am now in the market to buy a new receiver for myself. The AVR10 is so much better than my 6 year old Technics Pro-Logic receiver! |

Just bought this HK AVR10 2 months ago from U-Bid for $103 delivered. I am very impressed by the great clean sound this unit produced in 2-channel Stereo. Home theatre surround sound is great, too. What an excellent entry-level receiver for audio enthusiasts in terms of both sound quality and value. |

Great Claean Sound Great clean sound. I picked this receiver up at www.uBid.com in April 99 for around $150. It was a great deal for a second surround sound system for my bedroom. |
