Strength:
Digital and DTS
Weakness:
power I replaced my AVR20, I cannot find a loudness feature or similar on this unit, I used to use it all the time on my AVR20. For stereo listening, I would take the AVR20 anyday. But for Dolby Digital it is great. Similar Products Used: HK AVR20 |

Strength:
Attractive styling, no hissing noises when volume turned up, mp3 decoding, 5 channel stereo, 3 coax and 3 optical inputs, binding posts for all 5 sp, great sounding high current unit
Weakness:
no phono input (but who needs it anyways nowadays), THE DAMNED REMOTE (not backlit either), not very loud compared to my old pioneer receiver, no component switching Dispite the shortcomings of the remote, no component video swithching, and it not being very loud, this is an excellent unit. For the money it's a great buy based on the build quality and great sound. It also looks good too. Similar Products Used: JVC rxv 818, Pioneer VSX-D903S--both pro logic |

Strength:
Lots o' inputs/outputs but like said...no component
Weakness:
Damn remote...can only program my VCR. If you are on a budget and want the best bang for the buck then, this H/K is for you!!! DTS just blew me away. Great sound field (excellent sound seperation)and extremely quiet (no hiss or hum). Still trying to get my head around the watts/amps thing but the way I look at it is that although it's watts are lower than other receivers it makes up for it in it's amps per-channel. The way I can visualise it is in engine terms. High watts with low amps per channel is like a 350 or 400 hp engine with a two-barrel carb. Lower watts with higher amps per channel is like a 290 or 305 hp engine with a high-performance 4 barrel carb. I believe the latter performs more efficiently, getting the most optimum power. Strength:
If You Want to hook it up, there is a place this machine will do coax digital, optical, or rca analog. There are almost too many but I better shut up at that statement. The power is ok but I enjoy the threshold of pain.
Weakness:
Power, The AVR 110 was a little difficut to set up but a little patience and it is no problem. The remote is confusing but performs many functions if set up correctly. The AVR 110 is not for the non-technically minded. It has a fairly difficult set-up but once completed it is oh-so sweet. I have dreamed for years for something I can sit on my butt and do everything and finally found it. I do wish it had some outputs for a few things but i guess you cannot have everything. Also I do like power and the AVR 110 is a little weak but on a budget it is a pretty nice piece. Similar Products Used: JVC,Aiwa, Sony(junk). |

Strength:
POWERFUL sound. Many inputs but lacking component switching.
Weakness:
Remote I love this av unit. It preforms flawlessly with my BOSE surround system. I have a sony 300 watt sub which reallly booms my home. Its rated at 50 watts but dont let it fool you, most recievers Sony Kenwood rate all thier recievers at 110wX5 where they cant go higher than 30 maybe 40. The only weakness is this CRAP ASS remote. Everything this is REALLY a GREAT Product!!!
Weakness:
NONE (maybe the remote, but WHO does a good stock remote anyway? - Don't answer I won't believe it!) Well, I have to admit that I was seriously considering the NAD T761 before I stumbled on the Harmon-Kardon listing at Crutchfield's online store (great store BTW). Strength:
Great sound, very conservative power rating
Weakness:
Terrible remote, Cannot be programmed, codes must be invalid The best sounding receiver for the money bar none. I've listened to Yamaha, Pioneer and Sony. This receiver plays music better than all of them. Great bass, very smooth midrange. The digital effects are very impressive. The only weakness is the stinkin remote. I could not get it to work with any other device. I called HK, they acknowledge the problem and said they were investigating new codes. HK also said they might have a replacement remote. If this had a gooed remote, I'd give it 10 stars. Similar Products Used: Sony ES series Prog Logic |

Strength:
Looks, features, quality, Name, DD/DTS, Price
Weakness:
remote, conservative power rating The Harman Kardon name speaks for itself and is much better quality for the price than the avg run of the mill Sony, Pioneer etc. The power rating also confuses me with only 50x2 or 40x5. It sound 10 times better than my old Sony 825 did and it was rated at 100x5. Similar Products Used: Pioneer, Sony STR-DE825, etc |
