Strength:

Good sound quality.

Weakness:

remote and manual are poor. I cannot get the remote to control my TV, DVD, CD or tape deck -- only the AVR and my VCR. Very frustrating. The manual is inconsist in its references.

Generally happy with the unit in the short time that I have owned it, but very annoyed that the supposed universal remote does not work.

Strength:

good looks,dts,powerful sound for 40x5 watts,192/24 d/a convertion rate.

Weakness:

manual,

After having my h/k20mk11 for 6years,I knew I would need to graduate to dolby digital & dts. After hearing what was out there for around 400 to 500 dollar range, the awsome sound I was used to was not there. Onkyo came close, but lacked the bass (musically) I wanted. I admit I am very picky about sound, Therefor I needed an amp to drive my Advent6003 as good as the 20mk11 did. When I herd the 110 I was sold. The bass is almost to strong, but of course can be adjusted. musicaly it sounds very good , home theater wise in one word "Awsome". The dd and dts are amazing, and it plays loud enough for a small to mid-sized room .

My only complaint was the manual, I was always switching back and forth between pages, but you do figure it out.

Strength:

great looks and build quality, great sound

Weakness:

can't program other devices(SAT, or DVD)-very frustrating, no external inputs for future upgrades.

after 3 years of great service, i finally shelved my sony str-915 receiver. never a problem-but no dts. after some research i picked up the new HK av110. i have it paired up with a sony 53', pioneer dvd, and infinty interlude speakers all around. this combination is really impressive! i showed some friends the dts and thx test screens from T2, cranked it up, and their jaws hit the floor. this receiver sounds very sharp. plenty of power for a medium size room. great value for the quality.

I have never listened to this particular model, but I think I will give it 5 stars, since it's obvious that Ken Smith has never listened to this tuner either. In general, Yamaha tuners sound to bright when compaired to a HK tuner.

Strength:

Great sound, great style.

Weakness:

You guessed it. . . A slightly lame remote.

I bought this receiver on your reccommendation. . . And I love it!

The sound matches, or maybe(?) bests, my fantastic Harman Kardon 3250 stereo receiver.

The only drawback, as you well prepared me for, is the remote. My old 3250, 1995 vintage, has a better remote! It works, too, for most functions.

You will not find a nicer looking receiver. This one fits into your living room without looking like a space shuttle cockpit panel. Very solid, clean and modern.

My system is now complete. Thanks everyone for the great reviews on this product.

This is a second review for this item. The only problem is when I get a dolby digital signal from my sat. it reverts back to stereo mode when I go to another channel that is not D.D.This is not really a big deal but I have to go through the surround setup again. Oh well, nothing is perfect.

I have always been interested in getting a DD and DTS reciever. I was looking at getting a Sony home theater in a box, but after hearing horrid reviews I was turned off to that idea. After extensive research I came across the AVR110. I heard alot of reports that many reciever models from other manufacturers had an audible hiss that came at all volumes. After hearing the AVR110 was High Current I decided I have to have it. All I can say it is a EXTREMELY great reciever for my needs. I stay in a college dorm room, so the sound from the 110 makes me the envy on my floor. DD5.1 sounds great, but so does regular analog sources like CD's and Mp3's. The volume does get very lound and there is more than ample power to drive any speakers you have. There is a night mode that allows you to recreate that great digital sound at lower volumes. The remote isn't as bad as reviewers say. I purchased this model a few weeks ago- August- so I guess Harman Kardon has addressed the issue of the bad codes. An updated code sheet that was separate from the manual came with the unit and I was able to program the remote to work with my TV and DVD player. All in all I am very satisfied from my purchase. In referene again to the Sony Models, I just think it is unacceptable to pay a good price for reciever that has a hiss. The AVR110 rectifies this issue with perfect sound. I honestly believe this is the best reciever for its price on the market. Go get it now. This has to be one of the best reviewed products overall from Audioreview.com

Great amp for the price. I had the same remote problem but hk sent me a new one free of charge. If you want a good sounding amp for a good price this is the one for you.
