Strength:
Clean sound, 6x105w power with pre-outs on all channels for extra amplification if needed. Upgradeable, with direct 7 channel inputs allowing for external decoder use. Learning remote that can operate multiple A/V equipment. Pro-logic II and CS 5.1 for improved audio with older material. Quality look and feel.
Weakness:
No DTS ES discrete capability, remote is not particularly ergonomic and lacks a backlight, no adjustable low frequency crossover, manual is a little light on detail. I was considering the Marantz and the Denon AVR2802. The Denon had a few more features such as component video switching, DTS ES Discrete decoding, and extra rear surround pre-outs for 7.1 capability. The Marantz has the DTS ES and Dolby Digital EX decoding but the rear surround channel is matrixed not discrete. Had I read about the problems with the early SR6200/7200 models I would have gone with the Denon but fortunately my SR6200 receiver has none of those problems. I use it mainly for home theater use in a 5 channel configuration. My setup is as follows: Toshiba 50H81 TV Marantz SR6200 JBL LX500 Front L/R Klipsch Center Bose 161 Rear L/R The receiver sounds great and has power that far exceeds the needs of my 14''x 10'' family room. Compared to my old Kenwood KVR7050 Pro-Logic receiver the home theater experience is vastly improved. Highs are higher lows are lower and I can hear subtle sounds in movie audio tracks that were not audible before. The Dolby Digital and DTS modes sound great, I am going to add a rear surround channel to try out the Dolby Digital EX and DTS ES modes. All in all I''m very satisfied with the unit, it had all the features and power I needed without the extra cost of those I did not. Similar Products Used: Kenwood KVR7050 |

Strength:
Nice clean sound.
Weakness:
Everything is controlled by the remote. The main unit has minimal controls (bass/treble buttons are on the remote, etc. etc.). No bass management. Speaker settings are used by all inputs. It would be nice to have different speaker settings for the DVD, TV, VCR, Tuner. This product delivers clear highs, mids and nice bass for both DVD''s and CD''s. It has enough power to drive my 603''s and LCR6. This unit did not have any problems as with the other reviews. Similar Products Used: Rotel RSP-976, RP-985, B&W DM602-S2/DM603-S2/LCR6-S2 |
