Strength:
clear and powerful sound, can power a large room.
Weakness:
no component switching, remote could be a tad better. It is identical to the SR7200, which I had previous to this unit. If you can live without component switching (my tv has it already) and A/B switching and also a little better remote, then the SR6200 is for you. Has 110 watts X6, although most sites list 105( my manual says 110). It has a very clear and powerful sound. It''s more musical than denon or harmon kardon, and yamaha is not even close. I recommend this unit, you won''t be disappointed. Similar Products Used: Marants SR5200,7200, Denon AVR 1802, 3802, Harman Kardon AVR 520, Yamaha RX-V1200 and 2200. |

Strength:
-qaulity of sound -spare in dynamics/range/power due to over-dimensioned components -ease of use (when using the buttons/interface on the reciever) -finishing/looks
Weakness:
-crappy and cheap remote control -complex and non-user friendly remote control -not user friendly manual If you wish for a qaulity audio and video av-reciever, the SR-6200 is it. It''s direct source funtion with CD''s and DVD''s gives you the clear an full dynamic range of the reciever, it''s like everything happens within your living room. Very good product if used together with Mordaunt-Short 908, 904 and 905 center speaker. The clearity and dynamic range is unbelievable. It''s like an angel is P#$$#ng in your ear... Easy set up and many options, numerous hook ups for future 7.1 channel dvd playback. Great value!!!
Weakness:
Remote is lowsy but I have a universal learning unit and transferring was easy. Purchased this unit a few weeks ago and wow!!! Moved up from a Yamaha HTR 5240 and paired it with the Marantz DV-6200 and I think I am set for a while. Although my Polk RM 6600 speakers and powered sub-woofer are small, the sound is very tight and deep. I set the speaker size to "small: across the board and all the bass comes thru the sub. I debated between NAD and DENON and chose the Marantz which seemed to offer much more value. I have always been a big NAD guy but their video units just seem yo be below par. My stereo system is all NAD but as far as home theater, Marantz has stepped up to the plate. My system includes: Panasonic CT-HX 41 HDTV Monitor Marantz SR-6200 A/V Receiver Marantz DV-6200 Progressive scan DVD player Polk RM 6600 speakers with powered sub-woofer Similar Products Used: DENON NAD YAMAHA |

Strength:
CS 5.1 effect gives lot of new flavor to old material. Good consideration for both music (Direct function) and HT. Tone not too hard and well balanced.
Weakness:
Same as many others, the remote layout could be improved to be more friendly. Pop-up noise sometimes (hope it''s not because of the machine) 3 strongest players in local market are Yamaha, Denon and Marantz. Due to previous experiences, I only focus the Denon AVRx802 series and Marantz SRx200 series. Denon is harder and sharp in speed, a style, which I enjoy more. However after overall considerations, I switch back to SR6200 whose power might be more needed by the big MS speakers and the comparable Denon model is much expensive. Fortunately the choice doesn''t get me down. Though there is so called pop up noise, it doesn''t bother too much as I think it''s common and no hurt to the equipment. It might also be due to those poor Discs as it doesn''t come out all the time. To be frank, it is to me not as complicated as described in many cases to configure the setup. The OSD, same as the manual, is not well designed, but easy to understand and better than none. The "Direct" button gives an opportunity to enjoy pure music better. Bass and Treble control are available on remote but ATTN: they don''t work in some cases, especially when you switch to "Direct", so what. In HT, no many comments, it has not much but slight improvement than my 1st system (Wharfadale Diamond plus Yamaha 595A). Good credits will also be given to CS5.1 (even more attractive than PII, both simulate discrete 5.1) and 6 stereo. It enhances the experiences of enjoying music, live and being filled. remote hen i was upgrading from my sr580,i considered the nd 760(not enough digital inputs)the yamaha rx-v800 and marants sr5200.I took the yamaha, hooked it up,and 2 days later, returned it ,needing some real power i got the sr6200,and have never looked back, lots of power for theater, great sound in stereo, and surround modes i may use,(not 40 like yamaha)The menu is easy(marantz styling)look and design is impresive.Unfortunatly you have to go to the 7200 to get a decent remote, but i use a ht master remote any way so it was not a big deal.i highly recomend this model,I am an A/V installer and have seen a few recievers, and these marants x200 series are a great deal for the money. i am driving Tannoy mx4 fronts Tannoy mxc centre psb alpha mini rear psb sub zero Similar Products Used: marantz,hk,yamaha, kenwood |

Strength:
Very clear sound, Auto switching of the Dolby settings. And the remote control is programmable, so I got rid off some remotes (like my Xbox DVD-remote :-)).
Weakness:
No bass and treble control in 6-channel stereo mode. The memory of the remote control is rather small. I bought this receiver in April 2002. All the earlier problems like popping sounds and video problems are gone in the current Marantz series Receivers. I was very pleased with the sound it produces, it''s very clear and no noise exists at high volumes. Looked at other receivers from Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon and NAD. The Marantz simply looks better and sounds better. Similar Products Used: Denon AVR-2802, Yamaha RX-V730, Onkyo TX-DS-797, Sony .... |

Strength:
Sounds better than more expensive competing models. 6.1 channels and modern surround modes at an affordable price.
Weakness:
Remote is cheap and impossible to use by feel. Bass management far from state of the art. Price is in US$. It has taken Marantz six months to finally get the bugs out – after returning three units(!) I am finally a satisfied customer. Each of the defective units had video sync issues with bright flashes and/or popping noises. Marantz was better to converse with than the dealer, who became impatient when I politely reported multiple problems over time. I guess it’s because I persisted in wanting a unit that worked as designed after the sale was completed (imagine that). Additionally, she unjustifiably berates her assistant. No class. But I digress. If you are a US buyer, spend the extra $125 for the 7200 just to get the superior remote. In Canada the 7200 costs up to $500 CND more than the 6200, so if you can do without component switching and 2nd room audio, you can get the 6200 and a nice aftermarket remote for less than a 7200. I bought Marantz’s own RC1200 (similar to the 7200''s, but with a backlit LCD screen) for $200 CND. 2-channel Source Direct makes well-recorded CDs sound spectacular. 6-channel stereo is great for filling the room with music when you have guests over, but I would have preferred 4-channel stereo (why include centre speakers for music?). The FM tuner is very good, and for analogue TV surround material the Circle Surround 5.1 mode sounds like an “enhanced” DPL 2. On those rare occasions when CS 5.1 sounds overdone, I revert to DPL 2. Dolby Digital and DTS sound great, and with a sixth speaker you can take advantage of EX and ES discs. Besides the remote, my only other gripe is the primitive bass management. You can’t enter different bass modes according to source – you either have a sub for everything or you don’t, and the crossover is fixed at 100Hz. Fortunately, when I switch to source direct for 2-channel music listening the mains are automatically set to Large and the sub out is disabled, which I think is best for music, since I have decent tower speakers. The THX-Select Onkyo 797 had much better bass control, but it cost nearly twice as much as the 6200. After all the hassle with defective units, I can finally say that I recommend the Marantz x200 line. However, the video sync problem can persist depending on the brand and quality of the source components. Video flashes still occur with a cheap Toshiba SD1600 DVD player but not the higher-end SD2300, and not with a fellow HT enthusiast’s Panasonic DVD Similar Products Used: Yamaha RX-V390, RX-V1000, Onkyo 797 |

Circle surround, PLII, auto detect mode. Remote is easy once you learn. Excellent sound - put on a piece with classical guitar in 6 ch. stereo.
Weakness:
No control of sub cut off frequency. Some noise (hissing) at very high volume. Compared to my old Teac pro logic system, the Marantz is amazing. The sound is clean, detailed and warm. I had the popping sound like so many others but by being persistent the Marantz service center in Greece exchange for a new model, which works perfectly. The receiver has plenty of power for my purposes even when playing stereo. Similar Products Used: Teac prologic. Kenwood stereo amp. Philips DVD 935 Home made speaker, Seas. |

Value Per Money is PERFECT Source Direct button gives you near audiophile quality Circle surround is (my taste) way better than Pro Logic II
Weakness:
You''ll need some time to learn the remote I work as a music editor on a major magazine of my country, so you see that music is a huge part of my life. Like the other guys, I was between this one and the Denon 2802. I chose the Marantz for its better quality in stereo mode and the way lower price (about 300 euros in Greece). I am one of those who think that musical clarity must be your major factor when you buy an amp. But,I''m waiting from time to time a guy who will write something like "Well, ok, good amp, but the sixth channel is matrixed, not discrete like in, lets say, Yamahas"!!!. So go on my friend and buy a Yamaha, or a Suzuki or a Kawasaki, and stop playing with our nerves!!! If you care for DTS Neo:6 or NBA:Jordan23 formats more than music reproduction capabilities of future formats like SACDs, PLEASE don''t buy one, you''ll save the rest of us of your silly suggestions ans complaints. If you are one of us, go on and buy one without fear. Thank you. Similar Products Used: Marantz SR-5200 Marantz SR-7200 Denon AVR-2802 Denon AVR-1802 |

Can''t ask better for an excellent stereo and home theater sound. Option for user learn on remote. Easy on-screen-display.
Weakness:
If you have the POP Sound or FLASH problem like I did. Simply return it to your store and Marantz will replace it. Small lack of memory on remote. I was considering the Marantz 6200, the Denon AVR2802 and the NAD T751. The Denon had a few more features such as component video, an extra rear surround pre-outs for 7.1 capability, but in other hand the NAD T751 had only one digital input. Both Marantz and Denon sounds great but there are a big difference in price. In counter part, the Marantz has the 5.1 Circle Surround and the Dolby Pro Logic II. Stereo and Home Theatre sound the best on the market. I refer this HT recevier to everyone. My setup is as follows: Front: Mission 703; Rear: Mission 700; Center: Mission 70C2; Sub: JBL PSB12 |
